This is my 2nd card today, this one featuring the July card kit from The Hedgehog Hollow.
(Go here for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L card).
Included in the July kit are several exclusive products from Sunny Studio Stamps. I have to say, I LOVE this kit! The theme is Rainbow and it truly shows with all the gorgeous papers included in this kit; 24 double sided papers! If you missed my un-boxing video and would like to see all the contents, view my short video, here.
If you're a member of the exclusive Hedgehog Hollow Facebook group for kit subscription members, then you saw my sneak peak of the boy stamp. This set actually comes with two girls! I masked one of the girl stamps to create a boy image. How fun is that? Having the ability to do this just adds more versatility to this stamp set. Scroll down and I'll show you how this was done.

The boy image below, is a partial stamped image, taken from the girl stamp in the same photo. Look closely and you'll see the similarities.
If you're not familiar with masking, it's simply a technique where you use tape such as painter's tape or washi tape and mask the part of the stamp that you don't want inked/stamped.
Before you begin, I always recommend conditioning your clear stamps. It helps your ink to adhere better to the paper, with less flawed stamping. Just place your stamp on an acrylic block and rub over your arm or the back of your hand a few times. The oils from your skin help the process. Seriously! Ok, moving on....
In the first photo, I placed small strips of washi tape over the lower portion of hair and the frilly part of the girl's swimsuit. Once you've got your masking tape in place, ink your stamp.
Now, in the first photo below, you can see how the ink should look on the stamp, after removing the washi tape. If you feel that you have some stray marks that should be removed, just grab a cotton ball tip and gently swipe.
In the second photo, you can see how my image looks stamped on white cardstock. Actually, this is Strathmore Mixed Media vellum surface paper which is my preference for coloring. If you use a stamp positioner, which allows re-inking, for a crisper stamped image, you will need to re-apply the washi tape between inkings. If you only use an acrylic block, you may need to touch up a spot or two, with an ultra-fine or fine tipped black marker after stamping.
Also in the second photo, you can see where I drew in a line to create swim trunks and added a belly button. Cute, right?
If you like to color with markers or do no-line coloring, you could also just directly color the specific areas of your stamp with a marker, and then impress onto your paper. However, I prefer hybrid inks or dye ink. Just letting you know, there are other ways to achieve this.
In addition to these super cute colored images, I also used the ric-rac dies included in the kit to create layers of waves. I love how it turned out!
Just so you know, the June card kit sold out super fast so if you are thinking about becoming a subscription member, don't wait too long. This one will very likely sell out quickly as well. Don't come crying to me later because I will say....you guessed it....told you so. LOL!
So there you have it. So many great products in this kit and I love that I'll be able to use these stamps and dies over and over. Thank you so much to Mendi over at Sunny Studio Stamps for contributing so many wonderful products in this month's kit! I, for one, am so appreciative and I know the Hedgehog Hollow subscription members are too.
