Here's a cool tip. I didn't have the gemstones that Laura used so I decided to embellish with my Pops of Color liquid embellishment. When applied, I just dropped a small to medium amount. So why do they look like enamel dots? I'm so glad you asked.
But first, I need to mention that I placed tiny trimmed adhesive foam squares behind my vellum circle. These would be markers for where I wanted to place my Pops of Color and would also help stabilize my vellum for what I'm about to do next.
Once I applied all my droplets, I picked up my card and slapped the edge of my card 2-3 times on my table. I did this for both ends of my card. This levels out your droplet and flattens it. When I say slap, I mean slap. Don't be super gentle, but don't get violent either, haha!
I discovered this quite by accident one day and it's one of my favorite tricks. No need to buy enamel dots when I can do this! Also, if your droplet is too small, it won't flatten out. If that happens, just add a little more. Let me also say, this may not always work. It depends on how thick your liquid is and even temperature may play a factor. I haven't tried it with glitter glue but I need to!
Laura's Fall card was created using the SBC Sunflower die set. I actually have that set but it has disappeared into the abyss of my craft room. Instead I chose similar flowers from the Sunny Lane Floral die set. I die cut my flower twice using a light yellow paper from my SBC Daybreak paper pad. My flower center is a darker bronze/orange paper from the same paper pad.
Laura used a lot of white paint splatter on her card and flower and I did the same. I used Spellbinders Splatter White mixed with a touch of water and splattered with a paint brush.
Before I splattered my flower though, I did some ink blending on my flower center with Catherine Pooler Macchiato ink and Ranger Distress oxide ink Vintage Photo for my flower center underneath.
All of my flower elements were popped up on adhesive foam strips, as was my vellum.
Laura added a string and bow accent to all of her cards and I love it. However, I really didn't have much string in my stash, so I opted to trim thin strips from my paper pads to place horizontally across my card.
In place of the bow, I added small sentiments for both of my cards. For my Halloween card, I trimmed the wording from my SBC Spooky paper pad.
For my Fall card, I stamped a sentiment from the SBC Wordfetti Fa Lala stamp set. It has Christmas sentiments but also some really great all occasion sentiments. I also glued on some Pink and Main confetti to my inked panel.
The background paper on my Fall card is from the Market Bloom paper pad. It's full of double sided patterned paper that also includes some solid papers. This golden yellow is just what I needed.
I absolutely love Laura's design that she incorporated in all 3 of her cards, which is why I accepted the challenge to CASE (copy) her cards. I will absolutely be using this design again in the future! Catch the replay on her SBCfest class if you missed it!
