Fall is just around the corner and I couldn't be happier! It's my favorite season of the year. I am thrilled that Scrapbook.com asked me to create some projects with the new release from Sizzix and 49 and Market, just released today. I've created some seasonal cards/tags that include Fall and Christmas and I hope you'll scroll down to see why I love this collection so much! I'll also have clickable shopping affiliate links at the end of this post, and also highlighted throughout this post.
(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)
First, up is this Fall card that I created using 4 different collections from this release. I built my entire scene around the Pencil Line Harvest Stamp & Framelits Dies (pumpkin/sentiment).
I stamped some images for my background on my inky panel using these other collections from the release:
Forever Journal Essentials Stamps/Framelit Dies (stamped/die cut ticket, grids)
Bird Song Stamps/Framelit Dies (music score, border on cardstock)
Forever Leaves Stamps/Framelit Dies (leaves)
My leaves and pumpkin were watercolored with a variety of Catherine Pooler inks, Eucalyptus, Cranberry Fizz, Catching Rays, plus Ranger Vintage Photo distress oxide ink . I also did some ink blending around my card panel with the same Ranger Vintage ink, leaving lots of white space in the center.
I stamped some of my background images with my Scrapbookcom black hybrid ink and leather hybrid ink, and splattered lots of white and black paint.
To get the colored stamping on my sentiment I used a masking technique with tape and my stamp positioner and inked with Catherine Pooler ink in Orange Twist and Cranberry Fizz.
I also used Scrapbookcom papers from the Daybreak A2 paper pad on my panel backing and the dark green paper from my Christmas A2 paper pad for the border.
My next card is a bit larger, measuring in at 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and will easily fit in a 6x6 inch envelope.
This card features 2 different collections from the new release, Pine Holidays and Forever Journal Essentials Stamps/Framelit Dies.
I wanted to create a Fall twilight scene, turning to snow. I also wanted to make it appear as if the colors from the sky were peeking through my trees.
To accomplish this, I stamped all my trees with Catherine Pooler Machiatto ink, then went in with CP Deck The Halls ink on all the branches. To get a really good inking, I did this twice using my stamp positioner. Next, I die cut my trees with my Platinum 6 and the Framelit dies, then placed them across my ink blended sky to determine where to ink blend over my trees.
The inks I used for my ink blending were Ranger Ink Carved Pumpkin distress ink, Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo distress oxide inks.
I hand trimmed a sloped snowy hillside and added adhesive strips to the back. I had a couple trees leftover and decided to flip them sideways and use the branches as "grass" at the bottom, and also as a bush behind my signage.
Speaking of signage, I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock using my SBC black hybrid ink and the CP Deck the Halls ink, using the mask technique.
To create the backdrop behind my signage, I stamped one of the grids from the Forever Journal Essentials onto white cardstock. I hand trimmed all around so that it appears to have posts going in the ground . Then I swiped Ranger Vintage Photo distress oxided ink all across my stamped image.
I was going for a woodgrain type effect and I think I pulled it off! I used adhesive strips again, to pop up the signage and sentiment. I also did a touch of ink blending in a curve, on my snowy hillside near the signage, to appear as a trail or path.
Ya'll, this is how my mind works, haha. I know it's a lot of detail to take in but when I get an idea, I just have to roll with it and make it work!
Some of my trees are also popped up on adhesive strips. For example, the first tree you see was adhered flat to my snowy hillside midways and down. The other half was popped up with adhesive strips to keep the tree flush with the popped up snowy hillside.
Lastly, I created a Christmas tag using 4 products from this release:
Reindeer Mix Cluster Stamp w/Framelit
Pencil Line Holly Stamp/Framelits Dies
Forever Journal Essentials Stamps/Framelits Dies
Jolly Sentiments Stamps/Framelits Dies
I used my Scrapbookcom hybrid ink in Leather stamp my leaves from the Pencil Line Holly set, then stamped again with the coordinating solid stamp images using CP Eucalyptus ink. I also spritzed my inked stamp with water before stamping. I decided to lightly ink blend some of the non-colored portion of the leaves with ink left on my blender brush from Ranger Vintage Photo. Sometimes, there's no need to ink up your brush from pre-inked usage. I also watercolored my berries with the CP Cranberry Fizz ink and a waterbrush.
To create my tag, I used the SBC nested tag dies with my Platinum 6, ink blending all around with Ranger Vintage Photo distress oxide ink, leaving white space in the middle.
My reindeer cluster was stamped using CP Macchiato ink on my die cut tag. I stamped again on a separate piece of cardstock and used the reindeer die to cut out the reindeer.
Next I used a bit of Ranger Vintage Photo to watercolor some of my die cut reindeer in the lighter areas, then popped it up on adhesive strips.
I also stamped my tag with the music score from the Bird Song collection, (stamping with CP ink in Cranberry Fizz) and the Forever Journal Essentials (grids) using Ranger distress oxide ink in Vintage Photo.
My sentiment from the Jolly Sentiments collection was stamped with my SBC black hybrid ink and die cut with the Framelits dies. I trimmed it in half to work within the confines of my tag and popped it up on adhesive strips.
Did I mention the papers? I trimmed and adhered some green plaid papers from my SBC Christmas patterned paper pad to create a border along the bottom and left side of my tag.
Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless you if you lasted this long through all my chatter! You'll find all the products that I used, linked below with affiliate links to Scrapbook.com, if you'd like to shop. There is no additional cost to you, for using my affiliate links and I appreciate it so much!
Happy holiday cardmaking everyone!
Terri
