Love and Bubbles Card for Catherine Pooler

I have a fun, bubble embellished card for you today, featuring the much anticipated Soda Pop release coming out this Wednesday from Catherine Pooler. There are several bundles that will be available on 4/19 and the Feelin' Fizzy bundle is one that I'm creating with today. 

I decided to watercolor some bubbles on mixed media paper, using the Slate gray ink pad and Do-Si-Do ink pad. I simply pressed my ink onto a craft mat, then grabbed the colors with my water brush. I ended up fussy cutting the larger bubbles to use as embellishments all over my card and I also popped them up on adhesive foam.

The remainder of my stamped bubbles on my card panel were filled with Nuvo irridescent dream drops and they are sooo gorgeous and shimmery in person!

I also wanted to do some ink blending for the Love word. I ink blended two different trimmed panels of white cardstock and blended the Cranberry Fizz and Do-Si-Do ink on one panel. (Can I just stop right here and say, I've used lots of different brands of blender brushes but my Catherine Pooler blender brushes are my absolute favorite. I love them so much and get such good results with my ink blending.)

For the next panel, I used the same inks from above but also used all the grays as well. I ran my Retro Love Word die through my platinum 6 with the ink blended panels and also ran my die on white and black cardstock. Might as well have several on hand for future projects, right?

I ended up mixing and matching all my die cuts to get 4 different word die cuts. As you can see, I went with the 3rd one pictured below, for this card.

I almost forgot to mention, my panel was stamped with the Hoodie gray ink using the Wonky Stripe background stamp and my Misti stamp positioner.

I also inked the edges of my white A2 card with the Slate gray ink, underneath the panel.

I used a masking technique to break up my sentiment and stamp the wording in different sections, above and below my word die.

Just don't make the mistake I did. And, it's not the first time, haha. Things were going well on my masking until my last word "Fizzle" was stamped. I forgot to peel off my masking tape and, yup, ink got all over my panel from the tape. Sigh. It happens. I had to start all over so don't make that mistake!

Soda Pop Collection Catherine Pooler Insta Hop

Hello crafty friends. There's a fabulous Instagram Hop happening over on the Catherine Pooler Instagram page this morning, Sat. April 15th at 9:00 am ET. The Soda Pop collection goes live on April 19th (18th for Stamp Nation members) and there's a prize up for grabs for one lucky person who comments at all the stops on the hop. My card features stamps and dies from the Feelin' Fizzy bundle, Arnold's Drive-in patterned paper and new gray ink pads in Pebble, Slate and Hoodie. These grays are fabulous!  I used them to stamp my soda bottles, the star designs and even ink blended a little shadow on my bottles.

I also used the Cummerbund and Catching Rays ink pads. Plus, Cranberry Fizz ink for my straws. I also did a fair amount of masking for my sentiment, inking in Midnight and then Cummerbund ink (then coloring in the blue ink with a Copic marker), and also some masking and paper piecing for the "logo" on the soda bottles. 

I had so much fun putting these elements together! 

I absolutely love this release soooo much. I plan on giving this card to my dad for Father's Day and I know he will love it. Everyone calls him Pop which makes it extra special.

Did I mention, one person will win all three of the new gray ink pads?  Woo hoo! Catherine Pooler ink is water based so you can watercolor with them too! Just press your ink pad on a craft mat and grab the color with a water brush or wet paint brush.
