Fall Colors featuring OLO Marker and Altenew

Hello friends, I've had some Altenew products in my stash that have never seen the light of day, so I thought I would color up a Fall-ish card with pops of greenery. I'm featuring OLO Marker coloring as well, my favorite artist markers! Scroll down for details.

The Altenew products I'm creating with today are the Floral Serenade Press Plate, the Classical Sentiments Press Plates Set and the Ivory Black Foil.

Yes, I foiled with my press plates! I used my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System and foiled with these plates just like you would with hot foil plates. My images turned out great! I also ran my plates/foiled images through my Platinum 6 die cut machine to seal the foiling.

I used 6 different OLO Markers for my coloring as pictured above:

OR1.6 - Orangutan

YO2.5 - Yellow Ochre

YG8.5 - Moss

YG2.5 - Avocado

YO2.2 - Pudding

O2.7 - Cinnamon

After foiling my image, I started coloring all my blooms and greenery. Once that was complete, I went in with my OLO Marker in Orangutan to color my entire background.

I highly recommend at least 80-100 lb weight smooth cardstock for coloring. I also try to color in sections and keep my marker to the paper as much as possible to avoid uneven coloring. This is when quality paper helps. Also, quality markers! If you are not using quality artist markers, that may be a reason you have uneven coloring, (splotches, streak marks).

For my foiled sentiment, I did my own hand trimming around the wording. I decided to color all around my sentiment with the same marker I used for the background. I really like how it seamlessly blends in!

I also splattered on some white paint and glued on some tiny orange sequins from one of my Catherine Pooler sequin mixes, for added sparkle.

Light My World Altenew 11th Anniversary Celebration

Altenew has been celebrating their 11th Anniverary this month. That's such an achievement and I'm so happy for my friends at Altenew! The "Light My World" stamp and die set (from the Mini Delight collection) has been in my stash and I thought it was perfect timing to ink it up. Scroll down for brief details. This is the prettiest stamp set and includes a good number of sentiments with it as well. I think it's the perfect size for whipping out multiple cards using this image. It's not too elaborate and not too minimalistic.... it's just right!

Now, I used a myriad of products for this card, in addition to my Altenew stamps and dies. There are so many ways to use the light bulb dies with this set. I had a color scheme in mind that I wanted to use, so I began by doing some ink smooshing with my Catherine Pooler Aquatini ink pad. Simply press the ink onto a craft mat, spritz with water, then randomly dab your cardstock into the mixture.

I then used some of my light bulb dies to create this vase from the ink smooshed cardstock. My yellow  plaid paper is also from Catherine Pooler.

For my coloring, I used these OLO Markers:

BG2.3 Aqua Green

YO2.3 Butterscotch

R5.3 Dusty Rose

YO2.5 Yellow Ochre

Quick Last Minute Christmas Card

It never fails, seems like I'm always making last minute Christmas cards, even on Christmas Eve! Luckily, I can easily pull this off with watercoloring and simple stamping. Works great every time! I used my Altenew pan watercolors and masked off a border with low tack tape on some trimmed heavyweight mixed media cardstock. I used 4 different watercolors - blue, purple, pink and brown. I also heat set my colors when finished, then pulled off the tape around the edges.

For my stamped images, I used the Erin Lee Creative Thrill of Hope stamp set with my Misti stamp positioner and black hybrid ink from Scrapbookcom. I adore that lyric from the song, O Holy Night!

I also did some paint splatters with my Spellbinders Splatter White. 

My actual card panel was trimmed to 3.5 x 5.5 inches and my full card dimensions measure at just under 4x6 inches. I used dark blue paper from my stash for the backing under my card panel. It was adhered directly to my card, with my watercolor panel popped up on adhesive foam.

Galaxy Scripture Card for Erin Lee Creative

When I saw the Moon die and the Written in the Stars stamp set, I immediately pictured a galaxy night sky background for these images. It's been awhile since I made a galaxy card, so I decided I needed a refresher on the technique. I found a really easy tutorial on Youtube by Kristina Werner and set out to implement those steps. It was super EASY!

I trimmed some of my Altenew watercolor paper to an A2 sized panel and broke out my Altenew pan watercolors. I began by painting random colors, one color at a time.

I ended up with a patchwork of different colors on my card panel.

Next, I painted on the black watercolor paint. Kristina painted hers in a circular motion, so I followed suit, painting randomly but allowing color to still peek through in places.  I actually wished I had added on additional layers of black as it wasn't as dark as I really wanted it but, that's ok. I'll try that next time. I did blot with a paper towel here and there if I felt like the paper was too saturated.

For the stars, Kristina recommended transferring the water spritzed white paint to an acrylic block and flicking the paint off the edge of the block with the paintbrush. It worked incredibly well and I'll definitely be trying that again.

I ended up trimming down my A2 painted panel a bit and layering with black cardstock on my card. My moon die was cut twice, once with white cardstock and then with black cardstock. I adhered them together so the white is offset just a bit behind the black moon. It gives kind of a light effect, like the shine of the moon.

My sentiment was heat embossed, stamping with Versamark clear ink several times using my Misti stamp positioner, then sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set with my Ranger Heat tool. I fussy cut it and popped it up on adhesive foam, along with the moon.

I adore scripture stamps and this card just makes me so incredibly happy. The universe is vast, and everything in it!
