Hello one and all! Today's card features the March Stamp & Die Club from Spellbinders, and it's all about the sentiments. This set, "Nearest and Dearest", includes 20 different stamp sentiments, 5 word stamps and one sentiment strip grid die that's designed to cut 10 stamped sentiments at once! I love this set so much. First, I trimmed a piece of Tutu cardstock from the new ColorWheel collection, that measured 4.5 x 6 inches and placed a piece of double sided adhesive tape in the center, using my spellbinders Tool N One to remove the liner. This is to anchor my acetate sheet from the Spellbinders Woodland Tales collection. I like to incorporate products from previous collections, so they don't gather too much dust in my craft space! Use what you have, right?
My acetate sheet has gorgeous gold handwriting all across, and it was trimmed to the same measurements as my cardstock. I eventually trimmed this down a bit when assembling my card, for a slimmer look. My total card dimensions ended up being 4 x 5.5 inches, so just under an A2 sized card.
I went a little crazy stamping my sentiments. I am a huge fan of creating bulk sentiments when I can, and this months club selection helps you do that quickly! It's always great to have extra sentiments on hand and ready to go for every occasion. Plus, when you get together with your crafty friends for a girls cardmaking session, you can pass some around!
I decided to stamp some of my sentiments using Catherine Pooler Ink in Rockin' Red, Stone Blue, Glacier and Midnight. I also heat embossed some of my stamping using a variety of embossing powders with clear emboss ink. The powders I used were Wow Bright White, Ranger Gold Tinsel, and Wow Lavender Fields. It took me approximately 30 minutes to emboss, stamp and die cut all these sentiments and words on white and black cardstock.
When I do mass stamping, I find it easier to do all the stamping, then all the die cutting. Kind of like an assembly line format. It seems to go quicker this way.
To add more layers to my card and have a nice prop for my chosen sentiment, I created a die cut with my Glimmer Hexi-Gem Blooms Hot Foil Plate and die, paired with my Aura Hot Foil, white cardstock, my Glimmer Hot Foil System and Platinum 6.
The Hexi-Gem Blooms set is no longer available at Spellbinders, but you can find it in a couple other shops that I'll have linked in my supply list. You can always use something in your stash that works too.
The floral die cut was colored with my OLO Markers in these colors:
YG2.5 Avocado
YG8.5 Moss
R0.1 White Peach
R0.6 Cranberry
OR4.4 Rosy Bonnet
Spellbinders carries sets of OLO Markers on their site, but if you wish to purchase individual markers, you can find those here. I've tried numerous markers over the years and was a hardcore Copic fan, but these are now my artist marker of choice and I use them almost exclusively.
For my sentiment, I also swiped the edges with the same OLO Marker that I used on my blooms, White Peach, and both my sentiment and floral die cut are popped up on adhesive foam strips. Lastly, I glued on some Spellbinders Latte sequins for added sparkle and shine!
