Blooming with So Suzy Stamps

Wow, can you believe it's May 1st?  Where has the time gone?  One more month and my one and only will end his freshman year in high school.  Sigh.  I'll admit, I have been having crafty mojo issues.  After tossing three projects where I just wasn't feeling it, I finally decided to stick with just three colors for this card featuring So Suzy Stamps.   I pulled out an old favorite, "Fancy Butterfly", along with the new Olesya Bloom, Open Leaves and Simple Be You.  Be sure and stop by Suzy's blog today, as the entire design team is bringing you inspiration with the latest release, several of which are designed by our very own Olesya Kharkova.

I created my card, first, scaling down a 5" x 7" white Bazzill Card, and trimming a piece of woodgrain DCWV cardstock from my Vintage Collector papers, then running it through a WRMK woodgrain emboss folder with my Cuttlebug.

Next, I used my Spellbinders Celebration Rectangle pierced dies, cutting a blue and orange piece of DCWV Flip Cardstock paper, stacking them together and trimming them diagonally so I can use just one half of each color and piece them together.

To keep it simple, I chose just 3 colors; brown, orange and blue.  I was feeling the hippie and 70's vibe so I went with it.  I heat embossed all my images using Nuvo Hot Chocolate embossing powder.  Gosh, I love that color so much.  It's my absolute favorite right now.  You can find it here, in Suzy's store.
Next, I colored my embossed images with my Marvy Lettering Markers, blending with a waterbrush and blotting with a paper towel for a light effect.  Aren't they breathtaking?  I think so.

If you look up close on the floral centers, you'll see that they're popped up on foam.  I used a hole punch to pop them up.  All my adhesives are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  I also shaped my flowers, not with a fancy shaping tool, but by folding the petals inward and using the tip of a sharpie marker, pressing along the inside of each petal, with a thick foam mat which allowed me to better mold and shape my flowers.  It helps to first lightly spritz the back of your paper flower with water.  After shaping is complete, dry with a heat emboss tool.

I also bought this pendant jewelry piece on clearance quite some time ago from Hobby Lobby.  I remembered that I had it and thought it would go perfectly with my color theme.  I hot glued it to the center of my handmade bow.  I'm so happy with how my card turned out.  These colors truly put me in a good mood!
