Handmade Postcard Exchange

Hello friends. Today's project was created for a postcard pal exchange, hosted by @planninginhd on Instagram. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to use some rub-ons in my stash. Scroll down for creative details. You'll find my clickable supply list at the end of this post, as well.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Although the postcard exchange has closed for this month, be sure and check back, if you'd like to sign up for future exchanges.

The rub-ons that I used for this postcard are called Retro Garden from Scrapbook.com. I was going for a summery, happy vibe! I kept the address side of this postcard fairly simplistic, but added lots of mixed media flair for the flip side.

My postcard was created completely from scratch, including trimming a standard size 4x6 inch piece of white cardstock. I decided to use heavyweight 100# cardstock, so nothing would bleed through to the other side, since I planned to add paint and ink splatters.

I adhererd some low tack mint adhesive tape, covering the outer 1/2" of all sides to form a border. I rubbed on the center phrase first, then created a floral, butterfly scene with rub-ons, most of which were offset on the border.

Although a wooden stick is included in the rub-on set, I prefer to use my bone folder as it glides a bit smoother.

Next, I did some ink blending around the edges with my Catherine Pooler Spiced ink, and a blender brush. The photo above looks pretty messy, but it's all in the process!

I also created lots of splatters with my Spiced ink, white paint and some Catherine Pooler Glitz Shimmer for some shine and sparkle.

I have a dedicated large piece of bubble wrap that I use to protect my space when splattering.

Another tip? I used my bone folder to also go all along the inner edges of the lined tape, so when I gently pull off the tape, the overlap of the rub-ons easily come off and don't leave any jagged edges.

I love how it turned out. So much inky deliciousness! If you wanted to do something similar, you wouldn't necessarily have to add the ink and paint splatters. The scene looks perfectly lovely without the added enhancement.

As of this writing, there's a coupon code available at Scrapbookcom. Use code HOLIDAY by midnight Sunday 7/26 tonight for an additional 12% discount off your entire purchase. If you're seeing this post after Sunday, tap here to see if there's another coupon code available! There are often free add-on gifts you can toss into your cart too from the coupon section.

I can't wait for the recipient to receive this. I hope she loves it as much as I do! If you have any other questions, let me know in the comment section. I hope you have a fantastic day!

Monday Coffee for OLO Marker

Hello friends. I'm sharing another card for OLO Marker and their pre-order campaign for the production of their fine nib markers. They sent me several samples of their fine nib markers and I'm creating with two of them today, along with some of their brush markers. Please note, the fine nib markers have their very own website! Scroll down for details! I'll have a clickable supply list at the end of this post.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

But first, a few details on the fine nib markers. They will only be available for this pre-order in 3 different sets. Eventually, single fine nib markers will be available, but it will be some time.

The latest news? If you pre-order the 256 fine nib marker set, you become a Collector and will receive a 10% discount on all future orders for life!

If you follow me on Instagram, I shared the drawing and coloring of this flower and coffee cup in my reels. Check it out here. It's just 1 1/2 minutes long.

I drew the most basic of flowers. Nothing fancy. AT ALL! So don't think you have to be a super skilled artist to draw. If you see my reel, it truly is all the color that brings it to life!

Here are the OLO Marker colors I used:

Fine nib - BG2.7, BG2.4
Brush - OR3.8, OR1.3, OR1.6

I drew on white cardstock and colored my flower, then used a coffee mug die from the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Mug die set, cutting with my Platinum 6 die cut system. Next, I colored the coffee in and the background colors, then used a white gel pen to add some highlights as accents. I also used BG2.7 for detail work and added embellishment dots to my background.

The sentiment is from the Catherine Pooler Designs stamp set Mug Shots. I actually used the word "may" from another stamp in the set to stamp above the quote. The two quotes are meant to be combined as one phrase to read, "May your coffee be strong & your Monday be short". I also used CPD Cargo ink for the stamping. My patterned black checkered paper is from a retired paper pack, but there's lots of similar styles online and even in big box hobby stores.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this project for OLO Marker. Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section. Have a great day!

Terri

Egg Shaped Spring Card for Scrapbook.com

I'm so excited to share this card today for Scrapbook.com! They recently sent me some products that I couldn't wait to pair together, including the Nested Egg Dies, the Market Bloom Rabbit Dies and new Spring themed papers - Cottontail and Pastel Glossy Cardstock. Scroll down for creative details on this egg shaped card. My supply list will be at the end of this post, as well.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

First, I used the largest nested egg die to create my egg shaped white card. It's important that you use a vertical top scored card for this design.

Just offset the top edge of your egg die by approximately 1/4" above your  vertical card, then run through your die cut machine. I used the Spellbinders Platinum 6.

Here's  a graphic of the egg die sizes.

I also used the largest die to create the top base for my egg card, paired with a gingham pattern from the Cottontails paper pad.

The frame for my card was created using the largest egg die, plus 2 sizes down to the 2.9 x 3.9 inch egg die. I chose a pretty orange glossy cardstock from the Pastel Glossy Cardstock pad. It's so shiny and I love these new glossy papers!

I adore the Market Bloom Rabbit dies, they are the absolute cutest! There are 20 different dies included with this set so you can mix and match all kinds of elements; party hats, crowns, different glasses and facial features.....it's so much fun to create with!

It was super helpful to use my reverse tweezers to handle the various die cuts while gluing all my rabbit elements with Artis glue. If you don't have reverse tweezers, these are an essential staple in my craft room. The set I used is exclusive to Scrapbook.com and is ergonomic which is great if you have arthritic hands.

I also used a variety of different Scrapbook.com paper pads to create the various features, but you can use what's in your stash as well. Here's a breakdown of the colors/papers I chose for the various rabbit elements:

Cottontail Patterned Paper (party hat/green + shirt/lavender)
Sprinkles Smooth Cardstock (party hat and bow tie/dark purple)
Christmas Smooth Cardstock (Glasses/facial features/black)
Vacation Smooth Cardstock (ears/pink)
Daybreak Smooth Cardstock (bunny face/ears/tan)

I also did a little shading around my rabbit's shirt using Catherine Pooler ink in Slate and one of my detailer blender brushes from Scrapbook.com

My sentiment and floral die cuts were created using the Blooming Sentiments Stamp & Die Set. This is a new set that can only be purchased right now with one of the class kits for the upcoming SBCFest.

SBCFest is an annual, free event and will be held on March 14, 2025 beginning at 8 am PST/11 am EST. Laura Graff will be using the Blooming Sentiments set in her class and you can check out her supply list here. It's a huge value, orginally $116.00 but specially priced for SBCFest at $38.99!

If you wish to have this set now, this is an amazing price. I've been told the items will be available for individual purchase some time soon after SBCFest, but the current bundle will be your best deal.

I also jazzed up the inside of my card a bit, using another sentiment from the Blooming Sentiments stamp/die set and one of the small floral stamps.

I also created a coordinating envelope for my card using some older Simple Stories scrapbook paper from my stash and created a sticker using one of the smaller nested egg dies paired with the Cottontail patterned paper.

By the way, did you catch the Livestream deal last Thursday at Scrapbook.com that featured the Cottontail Bundle? You guys went nutso and sold out the Nested Egg Dies included with this bundle in under 48 hours!

I generally don't like to share cards when products are waiting to be restocked, but obviously, the Nested Egg dies are super hot hot hot right now. If you really want the Cottontail Bundle or the Nested Egg die set, make sure you click the links to be notified when they're back in stock.

It should be soon, because Scrapbook.com doesn't want to leave you empty handed for your Easter and spring cardmaking!

Most of my photos are flat lay designs but I wanted to show you how nicely this egg shaped card stands upright.

My floral blooms and stamped sentiment feature Catherine Pooler Inks (Catching Rays, Sparkling Berry) and were stamped with my Misti stamp positioner. I did use my mint tape for the masking technique on my sentiment.

I also added some Pops of Color in Sunflower for the inside of the word "Bloom".

I know I threw a lot of information at you today, so thank you, if you stuck around for all of it! If you recently ordered some of these products, I hope you enjoy today's inspired card. And, if you're looking to add some of these products to your cardmaking collection, I hope you'll use my affiliate links, provided at no additional cost to you.

It takes many, many hours of creating, photo editing, making reels and blog writing and you have no idea how much I appreciate when you shop or even just click my affiliate links to view products. The few cents per dollar that I receive as commission through the various companies that I'm affiliated with eventually add up. I use these commissions for giveaways on my social media and to invest back into my craft to continue bringing you more inspiration! It also allows the companies to see how their customer base arrives to their site, so it's a win-win all the way around.

I hope Spring is showing itself where you live. Here in the South, the flowers are already blooming and I don't think we're done with Winter just yet. Have a fabulous week, everyone!

Terri
