Monday Coffee for OLO Marker

Hello friends. I'm sharing another card for OLO Marker and their pre-order campaign for the production of their fine nib markers. They sent me several samples of their fine nib markers and I'm creating with two of them today, along with some of their brush markers. Please note, the fine nib markers have their very own website! Scroll down for details! I'll have a clickable supply list at the end of this post.

But first, a few details on the fine nib markers. They will only be available for this pre-order in 3 different sets. Eventually, single fine nib markers will be available, but it will be some time.

I drew the most basic of flowers. Nothing fancy. AT ALL! So don't think you have to be a super skilled artist to draw. If you see my reel, it truly is all the color that brings it to life!

Here are the OLO Marker colors I used:

Fine nib - BG2.7, BG2.4

Brush - OR3.8, OR1.3, OR1.6

I drew on white cardstock and colored my flower, then used a coffee mug die from the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Mug die set, cutting with my Platinum 6 die cut system. Next, I colored the coffee in and the background colors, then used a white gel pen to add some highlights as accents. I also used BG2.7 for detail work and added embellishment dots to my background.

 

The sentiment is from the Catherine Pooler Designs stamp set Mug Shots. I actually used the word "may" from another stamp in the set to stamp above the quote. The two quotes are meant to be combined as one phrase to read, "May your coffee be strong & your Monday be short". I also used CPD Cargo ink for the stamping. My patterned black checkered paper is from a retired paper pack, but there's lots of similar styles online and even in big box hobby stores.

Floral Butterfly Card for Word Art Wednesday Guest Design

Hello friends.  Today, I'm guest designing again for the Word Art Wednesday challenge blog.  I'm using a digital image from one of today's sponsors, Imagine That Digi Stamps, featuring the Queen Anne's Lace digital stamp.  It includes 9 sentiments with the set, however, I chose to pair my colored image with the free printable scripture this week, offered up by Word Art Wednesday.

This scripture is so timely and it brought to mind a close relative dealing with breast cancer.  Cancer doesn't discriminate and neither does our loving Father God.  Even though sin is in this world, God is still molding us and guiding the way in our lives.  Despite sickness and the evils of this world, we are in His hands.  We may not understand why we go through the troubled times in our lives but for those who trust in Christ, we have the assurance that He is always with us.

For the creative details on my card, I printed both images onto mixed media paper, so I could add colored water splatters later.  It's hard to achieve splatters on regular cardstock, as it will typically bleed.  I always let my splatters dry naturally as I like the effect.

I used a variety of Zig Real Clean Color brush markers to color, using a water brush at times and mixing colors.  I also embellished my flowers, leaves and butterfly with gel pens.  My papers are from American Crafts Dear Lizzy collection, ribbons from May Arts Ribbon and buttons and pearls from the Macaron Bottle Embellishments from Buttons Galore and 28 Lilac Lane.  All my adhesives are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  You'll find links to the products below from Scrapbook.com.

(Please note, I've challenged myself to use up some of my older scrapbook paper collections.  The paper I've used today is from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic line and is no longer available.  However, there is a very similar paper with the exact colors that I've used in the Lovely Day collection in the product links below.)

Lastly, I decided to make a coordinating envelope with my We R Memory Keepers 123 Punch Board.

Eclipse Cards for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

I'm up on the Scrapbook Adhesives Blog today, sharing a tutorial on these two Eclipse Cards, made from black and white cardstock from the Crate Paper Flourish collection.  The full product list with convenient affiliate links is below, along with some additional technical detail.  For all the additional photos and instruction however, be sure and hop on over to the SBAby3L blog!   I do have some technical details below that you won't find on the SBAby 3L blog, so feel free to scroll down first.

Tech details:

To cut my words, I used a free font that I found online which was an asap condensed bold font.  I always make sure the fonts I use are free for commercial use.  The condensed fonts have smooth, round corners and are more visually appealing for use with Eclipse cards.

I saved the word Blessed for a future project.  If you've never downloaded free fonts before, there are various online tutorials that can walk you through the process.

Next, this hummingbird die cut came with my paper collection and I wanted to incorporate it behind my word.  Here's a few quick steps to achieve this, for any die cut, as pictured below:

1.  Tack a small amount of adhesive to the back of your die cut (hummingbird) and determine where you wish to place it.
2.  Using the leftover cardstock from your alpha die cuts as a template, move your bird die cut and tack to the template.  Flip it over and trace the outline from the back of the bird die cut.

3.    Remove your tacked bird and use scissors to cut the traced outline.

4.    Assemble the bird around the letters, discarding the sections that would cover the letters.  Once you've assembled your "puzzle pieces", apply a small amount of glue from the Dual Tip Glue Pen.  Additional trimming may be required for a good fit.

Pretty cool, huh?  It appears to be part of the actual cardstock design.  I debated whether or not to pop it up on foam squares along side my letters.  Maybe next time.
