Holiday Release at Crackerbox and Suzy Stamps!

Hey crafty guys and girls! I'm guest designing and hopping with the design team today, for the new holiday release at Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps! They've got some adorable products being released and I know you'll want to hop along, check out the new release, current sales and prizes up for grabs! But first, scroll down for creative tips on my mini slimline card.

Slimline cards are all the rage right now. The standard slimline card stands on average at 9" tall. The mini slimline typically is 6" tall. The stamp images that I'm using today are rather large so I scaled down to a 6" card, to keep the focus on these seasonal cuties:

Santa Large (new)

Reindeer Large (new)

and Christmas Tree Fun

I started with a black base layer for my slimline card and created some snowy slopes using a stitched die with my die cut machine. I left black space between my slopes, to create a shadow effect and add interest. 

Next, I colored up Santa and his reindeer with Copic markers and used my Scan N Cut to turn them into die cuts that I could place anywhere on my card. I did the same for my tree, only I stamped an extra image on patterned paper and fussy cut two portions to place over my original image, keeping my tree mostly white with a pop of red.

Lastly, I used white acrylic paint to dot onto my night sky, then heat embossed the new release sentiment called "Hey Santa", onto trimmed cardstock, and adhered to my card. A bit of trimmed ribbon and embellishments from 28 Lilac Lane, finish off my card. I really love the size of these stamps which work well for scrapbooking too. You can even get the kids involved and make a bunch of cute holiday tags. So many uses!

Remembering Mom

It's been awhile since I've blogged and I thought it was time that I shared why. Mom has been in bad health for awhile and two months ago, she had a stroke. I made the decision to step down from a couple design teams, to spend time helping my dad take care of her.  Of course, the whole pandemic thing took place and life got even crazier. A couple weeks ago, Mom came home with hospice, from a rehab nursing home and passed away peacefully last week.

This will be my first mother's day without her and it's going to be hard for all of us. I'm so thankful to have another very special "second mama" in my life. It's my mom's best friend, June. When we first moved to Alabama, over 40 years ago, and being a military family, as kids, we met what would become our best family friends in the world.  Just down the street, my siblings and I met Cindy, Mike and Jennifer. We hit it off immediately and they were also a military family. Both of our families retired in the same town and lived close by and before long, my parents met their parents and well....the rest is history.

All these years later, both of our families are still best friends. Wedding, babies, holidays.... they're our family. It was especially hard on June to say goodbye to my mom as she lost her husband just a few short years ago, as well. Since I can't send my mom a card this week, this Mothers' Day card will go to my second mama who I love just as much.

For my cardmaking friends, let me share some details. This tulip stamp set is one of my favorites, from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. That company holds a special place in my heart.  A few years ago I guest designed for them. I went on to join their design team and eventually designed my first stamps with that company. I also used my Misti and a masking technique to get that "field" of flowers, water coloring with my Altenew pan watercolors with a water brush, on watercolor paper. Some paint splatters and Sparkletz gemstones from Buttons Galore, round out the card.

Christmas Week Planner Spread

Hello friends,  today I'm sharing my Christmas week planner spread, before the pen.   This fun project is for Paper House Productions and prominently features the Life Organized Seasonal stickers.

If you haven't been to the site lately,  be sure and stop by.   Paper House has a new and beautiful site with so many new products.   In addition to the seasonal stickers,  I've used washi tape, cardstock and stamped and colored a Holly Branch image in my spread.  Some tricks that I use for coloring are to line my square edges with washi tape before stamping, to stay within the boundaries.   If you're worried about color showing through on the flip side,  simply cover with a sticker!

Merry Christmas Coffee Card

Hello friends, the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Fall/Winter blog hop is about to draw to a close.  I have one more project to link up and this features a delicious little scene.  I'm featuring stamps from Crackerbox and Suzy Stamps, which include the cup (I masked the coozie) and the bow.  There is currently a 20% discount on ALL stamps through this weekend!  Woo hoo!  The wreath however, was hand drawn by myself.  I used Copic markers for all my coloring today.  Crackerbox & Suzy stamps is now selling Copic markers as well.  We are in the process of adding all the sketch markers, so please be patient.

My wreath, bow and cup were all cut with my Brother Crafts Scan N Cut.  I love this machine!

I also added chipboard elements from Simple Stories, washi tape and stickers from Paper House Productions and sequins and gems from Buttons Galore.  My paper is from Authentique and all adhesives are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  I have shopping links listed below as I am somewhat of an enabler!

Holiday Faux Shaker Coffee Card

It's that time of year, when two of my favorite things collide; the Christmas season and the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Fall/Winter Blog Hop!  The Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps design team is always thrilled to participate and is providing a $25 GC to one lucky winner.  I've been a member of CLC since it's inception, and as a former designer a.k.a "brew crew" member of Coffee Loving Cardmakers, I'm in my happy place.

I'm using the Coffee Cup Heart stamp from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps today.   To create the plaid coozie, I simply used a black brush marker and colored along the outline of my coozie image on the rubber stamp, then stamped onto the Kaisercraft plaid paper with my Misti stamp positioner, then fussy cut.  Next, I adhered these to my cups (note: I also masked the heart), stamping with Catherine Pooler Ink in Midnight.

 For my faux shaker scene, I used a Lawn Fawn frame die on my cardstock panel, removing the center white cut out and placing more plaid paper behind the panel.  I added lots of sequins, gems and tiny stars from the Sparkletz collections at Buttons Galore and More.  Adhesives are courtesy of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. The micro adhesive dots are perfect for adhering those gems!

I also used Copic Markers to color my cups, C3 and C7.  We are now adding Copic Markers to our online shop!  You'll find links to the products that I've used at the end of this post.
