Raindrops Encouragement Card for Inspired By Challenge

Hey friends, I'm sharing a card inspired by the current Inspired By Challenge. I love a good challenge to get my creative juices flowing. Plus, I'm using products from my stash which is always a good thing! I think I only used one new thing on this card and it was paper. Scroll down for the details on how I was inspired!

According to the rules of this challenge, there are a number of ways to draw from the inspiration. I was inspired by the photo colors and the sketch.

This is a weekly challenge which I think is so awesome. If your creative mojo is running low, they've got something every week to get you moving!

I mentioned I used something new for this card. That would be the paper from the new Your Paper Insider Subscription Box, Box 11. It's the White Chin Kozo paper. It's a very lightweight paper and has a speckled design throughout, in varying sizes and colors of gray. It's actually more of a creme colored paper but my lighting is actually very bright, here in the Waving My Wand studio! (Yeah, not a studio, just a super messy space, haha.)

I also created a little window scene for my raindrops. I started by creating a die cut from the Picket Fence Studios Basic Die Cutting Set 1. This is actually an arch window, so I simply trimmed off the arch with my scissors. It's called versatility, using your dies! I bought this set last year and it's one of my absolute go-to die sets for scene making.

Next, I placed some light tack masking tape where my window scene would go. I swiped an ink pad over the entire masked area, using my Catherine Pooler Slate ink pad. It's a dark gray ink and just the color I needed.

I then proceeded to use my water brush to draw sleeting rain, blotting the wet rain with a paper towel as I go. I was going to use a rain stencil but the raindrops were just too large for this little window scene.

Lastly, I used a retired sentiment from a Reverse Confetti stamp set called Mixed Messages. I've been dealing with my own medical issues lately, so maybe this was my subconscious at work, picking this sentiment! I will definitely be saving this to send someone who needs a little encouragement.

My goal was to keep my design very clean and simple, and I believe I pulled it off. The last day to enter this challenge is Wednesday, April 30th at 11:55 pm pst. Check out the rules for details.

Have a great week!

Terri
