Raindrops Encouragement Card for Inspired By Challenge

Hey friends, I'm sharing a card inspired by the current Inspired By Challenge. I love a good challenge to get my creative juices flowing. Plus, I'm using products from my stash which is always a good thing! I think I only used one new thing on this card and it was paper. Scroll down for the details on how I was inspired!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

According to the rules of this challenge, there are a number of ways to draw from the inspiration. I was inspired by the photo colors and the sketch.

This is a weekly challenge which I think is so awesome. If your creative mojo is running low, they've got something every week to get you moving!

I mentioned I used something new for this card. That would be the paper from the new Your Paper Insider Subscription Box, Box 11. It's the White Chin Kozo paper. It's a very lightweight paper and has a speckled design throughout, in varying sizes and colors of gray. It's actually more of a creme colored paper but my lighting is actually very bright, here in the Waving My Wand studio! (Yeah, not a studio, just a super messy space, haha.)

I also created a little window scene for my raindrops. I started by creating a die cut from the Picket Fence Studios Basic Die Cutting Set 1. This is actually an arch window, so I simply trimmed off the arch with my scissors. It's called versatility, using your dies! I bought this set last year and it's one of my absolute go-to die sets for scene making.

Next, I placed some light tack masking tape where my window scene would go. I swiped an ink pad over the entire masked area, using my Catherine Pooler Slate ink pad. It's a dark gray ink and just the color I needed.

I then proceeded to use my water brush to draw sleeting rain, blotting the wet rain with a paper towel as I go. I was going to use a rain stencil but the raindrops were just too large for this little window scene.

Lastly, I used a retired sentiment from a Reverse Confetti stamp set called Mixed Messages. I've been dealing with my own medical issues lately, so maybe this was my subconscious at work, picking this sentiment! I will definitely be saving this to send someone who needs a little encouragement.

My goal was to keep my design very clean and simple, and I believe I pulled it off. The last day to enter this challenge is Wednesday, April 30th at 11:55 pm pst. Check out the rules for details.

Have a great week!

Terri

Encouragement Card for Ink Pink Hop

Hello lovelies! I'm participating in the Ink!Pink 2021 Instagram Hop with an encouragement card featuring Catherine Pooler products and a spotlight on one of the sponsors, ScrapbookPal.com! There are lots of sponsored prizes up for grabs so be sure to stop by my Instagram page for all the hop info. But first, scroll down for some creative details and a brief story of how breast cancer has touched our family.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

First, let me thank ScrapbookPal.com for being an amazing sponsor of this hop. I purchased several Catherine Pooler stamp sets from their site and am super happy with how quickly my package arrived. Plus, shipping rates are super reasonable which is a must for me! If you would like to add some of the products that I used to your own stash, I've provided convenient affiliate links at the end of this post for your shopping pleasure. I'm pretty awesome that way. :)

This card is closer to a mini slimline card at just under 6x4 inches. My card panel base was created using patterned paper from the Catherine Pooler Daily Grind paper pack. I topped it with a trimmed card panel stamped with my sentiment from the Let It Shine stamp set, breaking up my sentiment by doing some masking and adding the dot dot dot!  I stamped my rainbow on watercolor paper and grabbed some ink from the CP Do-Si-Do ink pad pressed onto a craft mat, using my waterbrush. My rainbow was fussy cut so I could adhere it directly onto my panel, then popped up the clouds on foam tape. My clouds were blended with the same pink ink, which actually has more of a coral tint to it. I would recommend you stamp the cloud first by blotting your inked stamp on scrap paper, then re-stamping on white cardstock without re-inking to get a faded image outline for fussy cutting. Next, I ink blended the clouds with the same pink ink and my CP blender brushes which I failed to link below.  The raindrops are from the CP Pitter Patterns stamp set and you can do so much with them!

By the way, I LOVE the smaller heads on the blender brushes. They are awesome and blend so great! I almost forgot to mention that I did some doodling on my card panel. I thought it added an extra fun element to the geometric feel of this card.

We are so grateful to all of our sponsors for offering up some super great prizes! I hope you will be sure and send them some love throughout the hop.

Now, a brief bit about our family's story. My mom was the first person in our family diagnosed with breast cancer. It was caught very early and she had a mastectomy but no chemo or radiation. She was diagnosed in her early 60's and survived. A few years later, my younger sister was diagnosed. She had a growing lump that she ignored for 7 years. Yes, 7! I constantly urged her to get a mammogram but she continued to put it off. Finally, she determined to go and it was cancer. A very rare type of cancer that is aggressive. She also had a mastectomy and a year of chemo and radiation. She is now many years out and still cancer free for which we are so thankful. It could have totally gone another way if she had waited much longer.  Please, don't put this off! Get regular mammograms, it could save your life!

If you've gotten this far, bless you. I know I've thrown a lot of information at you today but it's a cause that's near and dear to my heart. Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate each one of you so much! Terri

Raindrops and Rainbow Card

Here's another card featuring the July card kit from The Hedgehog Hollow.  I am so smitten with the colorful papers and fun stamps in this set!  There is so much exclusive content in this kit, designed by Sunny Studio Stamps, just for The Hedgehog Hollow.  How awesome is that?

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links.  This does not affect your purchase price.)

For this project, I really wanted to spotlight the amazing papers in this collection.  Included in this kit are 24 double sided 6x6 inch papers.  They are GORGEOUS!  Plaids, hearts, stars, stripes, solids.... I mean, seriously, everything is covered in this cardstock selection!

I also wanted to create a little scene, so I layered my papers and used a nesting circle to cut out a large circle in the center, creating layered rolling hills with the papers, and using one of the ric rac dies included in this kit.  I thought it would be fun to have raindrops accent my scene and coordinate with the sentiment, so I hand drew some drops onto watercolor paper, used a Zig real clean color brush to accent one side, and a water brush to pull the color towards the center.  Then, I fussy cut and glued them to my scene.

My sentiments were heat embossed on black cardstock, to add a little pop and contrast to all the colors.  Lastly, I cut two of the rainbow words using the rainbow die included in the kit, glued them together and draped across the top of my scene.

What a versatile kit!  I need more of those papers though... they are so awesome!  I hope I've given you some great ideas for creating with this kit.  If you're not a subscription member, what are you waiting for?  It's like getting Christmas in a box, every single month!  Get all the details on becoming a member, here.  You'll also have exclusive video tutorial content to create 4 cards every month, by Alexandra, along with exclusive coupons to shop online with that months sponsors.  It's an amazing value with everything that's included and worth so much more than if you were to purchase these items individually.

Psst.... take a look at what's headed your way in August..... it's going to be epic!

Thanks so much for popping in today.  I've got convenient affiliate shopping links below for some of the products that I used today, in addition to the kit contents.  See you next time...  Terri

DoubleClick Skittles Challenge - Something New

Welcome to a brand new challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #38 - Something New

Dec. 23 - Jan. 5

So what's my "something new"?  Why, fresh, newly fallen rain, of course.  Don't you just love the smell of fresh rain?  I do.  Especially in the Spring, when it mixes with the smell of fresh cut grass..... mmm.... And, there's nothing like being a kid and stomping in the rain and puddles.  Those were good times.

I'm using the Frosty Blue Skittles from the newest holiday release, Frosty Kisses.  This card is a real beauty in person, let me tell you.  My edges were inked with Ranger Faded Jeans distress ink and the raindrops are a digital image from Creativebug.   I used the Print and Cut feature of my Cricut Explore, then accented with Glossy Accents, to give my rain that "wet" look, adding a few "droplets" of Skittles.

The umbrella is also a free digital file that was offered up by Jillibean Soup.  I love how this umbrella turned out!  I used Ranger Fossilized Amber, chalk ink, liquid pearls and more Glossy Accents.

The new Holiday colors for the 2015 year!!  Grab some today and start the New Year crafting with "Something New".  You will love them, I promise!

Holiday Traditions 2015

You can shop below for these and other Skittles colors.   A 3 pk is typically under $4.00 (75 skittles) and this includes FREE USA SHIPPING, plus, Paypal is accepted.  You're supporting small business and product made in the USA, when you purchase Skittles.  Each batch is handmade, by Carri.  And, the new release has sparkle built in!

Join the "Something New" challenge and be entered for a fun prize that includes free Skittles, but be sure and read the rules, as backlinking is not allowed.  Skittles are not required to play so come on... link up and come and play with us!

Thanks for stopping by!
