Be The Light Mission Themed Scrapbook Layout

Today I'm sharing this layout that features a cut file created by my lovely friend Ashley at 

The Cut Shoppe.  BE THE LIGHT is perfect for mission themed scrapbook pages.  I'm using this file to spotlights my teen's most recent summer mission trip but it would also be appropriate for encouragement themed pages, as well.  I also chose papers and embellishments from the Jillibean Soup Spoonful of Soul collection, which is available now at Scrapbook.com.  Scroll down for a few creative details!

This was the first time that I have hand stitched on paper.  Let me tell, you I learned a few lessons!  Thanks to some lovely crafty friends, I learned to punch all the holes first, using a paper piercer.  I was so happy to have the Sizzix Stampers Secret Weapon on hand.  The foam pad and piercer set got the job done quickly!

Attached to the cut file is a light bulb.  I took the outline from the file, cut with my Cricut Explore, and laid it on top of my photo, tracing with a white gel pen.  Then I trimmed the photo and popped it up with foam circles, along with popping up the rest of my cut file.  By the way, behind the popped up cut file is another cut file called HEART BURST , which comes in two sizes.  My layout is sized at 8.5 x 11 inches, however I used the 12x12 inch and trimmed the edges.

If you look closely, you can also see the white cardstock in the background, splattered with spritzed distress ink.  Just another extra touch.  I love making splatters!

The journaling was typed out on my desktop computer and printed on Neenah cardstock, then layered with more Spoonful of Soul papers and popped up for dimension.

There's an entire sheet of die cut elements included with the Spoonful of Soul collection.  I used some of those as well, along with epoxy stickers.

Staggered Leaf Shaker Tag

Today I'm sharing this project that features Jillibean Soup products.  Shakers are so fun and more so when you make a tag that is gender friendly and can even be re-gifted (if you don't mind your friend passing on the love!).   This is a super easy and quick project, using a staggering technique with washi tape as a spacer.  Scroll down for a few creative details.

I'm using the tags from the Shaker Tag Flower set.  Simply stagger thin strips of washi tape, or trim some wider painters tape, and stagger diagonally across your tag.  Place the leaf stamp on a small acrylic block and stamp in the empty space, following the diagonal lines.  

The plastic flower insert, from the Flower Shaker Card set is easy to adhere as it comes with lining that peels off.  Fill your insert with all the pretty things!  I glued a few pieces to the base of my tag, then added my shaker, filled with seed beads, wood veneer flowers and sequins.

I added tiny Nuvo Crystal glitter drops to my leaves as well.  To finish, I used twine and embossed a kraft die cut created with the stamp set, Flower Bloom, which was also used to create the sentiment.  My inks are Catherine Pooler in Green Tea and Midnight and all of my adhesives are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Sweet Friends and Coffee

Hello friends.  Today's card was created with several events in mind.  I'm featuring the Hug in a Mug Stamp and Die set from Jillibean Soup, the Crate Paper Flourish paper and ephemera collection, Nuvo embellishments and I even made a custom envelope to coordinate with my card, using my We R Memory Keepers 123 Punch Board.  You an also use their envelope punch board.

Before I move on, a few quick details on my card.  I used Versamark clear watermark ink with my mug stamp, onto green Flourish paper from Crate Paper.  Next, I sprinkled clear embossing powder and heat it up just until it was almost fully embossed, stopping to quickly sprinkle on some super fine crystal glitter, (tap off excess), then finishing the heat process.  It's super sparkly!  My shaker features the stamped sentiment from Jillibean Soup Hug in A Mug set, gemstones from Nuvo and Dream Drops, also from Nuvo.  

My steam was created by placing kraft paper on black crafty tape from Scrapbook adhesives by 3L and using the steam die included in the Jillibean Soup set (and heart).  All papers and ephemera are from the Flourish Crate Paper collection, as is the paper for my envelope. My blossoms are popped up and I added a double layer of foam circles to the back of my cup to raise it higher than my blossom.  Please note: some of the Flourish collection are retired and out of stock.
