No Peel Foiled Ponsettias

I've been foiling all the things lately and stumbled upon what I'm going to call the "no peel foil technique". 

I stumbled upon this by first trying to foil some cardstock, using just my dies with my glimmer machine. I was able to achieve this, by the way. After I peeled off the lining on one of my die cuts, I actually decided I like my cuts with the  top lining intact even better!

 

In order to keep the lining intact, I need to change things up. So, I laid down an adhesive sheet on white cardstock, laid down some pastel foil and burnished it. Burnishing is simply using a bone folder or even a credit card to rub across your adhesive foiled cardstock. 

Now, I can die cut my foiled cardstock and the lining will not peel off  after die cutting. I love the shiny, glossy look! It's gorgeous in person.

The Jumbo Poinsettia Die from Erin Lee Creative, is the die set that I'm using today. It's huge, as you can see, and is a lovely focal piece for an A2 sized card.

I also created an ink splattered backdrop for my Poinsettia, splattering my Ranger Ink Kitsch Flamingo Distress Spray Stain on a trimmed panel. I find the easiest way to get really nice splatters, is to unscrew the bottle and tap the droplets all around from the feeder tube.

I did some bulk foiling recently and shared shortcut tips on my social media. I chose two sentiments for my pair of cards, one in a silver foil and one with black foil. I used the ELC Christmas Greetings hot foil sentiments plates and dies, along with my Glimmer hot foil system.

 My backdrop panel, layered poinsettia blooms and sentiment are all popped on adhesive strips for added dimension. Let me know if you have any questions, in the comment section!

3D Christmas Florals for Spellbinders

Hey friends, I'm back with another Christmas in July card for Spellbinders that features products from the Home For The Holidays collection, one of the new July releases. I've made a shaped card that features lots of 3D floral die cuts. Scroll down for more! I'll also have a clickable shopping supply list at the end of this post.

My card features the Emerald Cut Labels & Tag etched die set, using the largest frame in this set. 

I also cut 4 sets of the Poinsettia Spray etched die set (using my Platinum 6) gluing soooo many pieces together! It was quite the undertaking gluing that many pieces but I really wanted to have my card panel covered in all those blooms. They're all popped up on tiny, trimmed adhesive foam strips to make them dimensional.

Luckily, I was at a craft retreat that allowed me all the time I needed to sit back, relax and glue all the things!

Prior to gluing, I did some ink smooshing on several A2 size white card panels, dried them with my craft heat tool, and then cut my poinsettia dies from the inked panels. I used Catherine Pooler ink in  Rockin' Red for my ink smooshing and I love how they turned out. I was surprised that the color turned out more pink than red, when mixed with water but I'm not mad about it!

If you've never tried ink smooshing, just press your ink pad onto a craft mat, spritz with water, then dab your cardstock randomly onto the inky mixture and allow to dry naturally, or use a craft heat tool to speed up the drying process.

During the last Christmas holiday season, I created lots of foiled, bulk holiday sentiments using the Simon Hurley Joyful Christmas Glimmer Sentiments & die set with my Glimmer hot foil system.

I love having bulk sentiments on hand. I used Spellbinders Aura foil for my sentiment and took several photos so you could see how different it looks, depending on the angle.

It's so shimmery and gorgeous, and my absolute favorite Spellbinders foil. I should also mention, my frame and sentiment were both popped up on double adhesive foam, in order to be raised above my 3D flowers.

The papers that I used for all my sentiments came from 3 different paper pads from Scrapbookcom; Playful, Christmas and Peppermint.

My card is a side fold A2 card and my A2 card panel that holds the blooms was trimmed down just a bit to make space for my frame. Once all the elements were adhered to my side fold card, I simply went around and trimmed each corner of my card, at an angle, to be flush with my Emerald frame.
