I have another card today, featuring the True Story release from Erin Lee Creative. I wanted to try some ink smooshing for my background this time, in addition to my foiling. I love how it turned out! Scroll down for brief details, plus product links at the end of this post.

For my last card, which you can find here, I mentioned using my mint tape for masking to ink blend. The photo below gives you an example of how this is done.
I masked the lower section of black cardstock, adding a layer of mint tape on top, then cut my Calvary die with my Platinum 6. Once my die cut was made, it left the sloped portion and all you have to do is peel off the tape and adhere it to your white cardstock. This enables you to do your ink blending above the slope, without worrying about getting ink on the rest of your cardstock. So easy!
For my ink smooshing, I only used 2 Ranger distress oxide inks; Kitsch Flamingo and Ground Espresso. Simply press your ink pads on a craft mat, spritz with some water, then dab your cardstock randomly into the inky mixture. Use a heat craft tool to dry in between each color used. Once I was finished with my inking, I used a blender brush to go around the edges and blend in some more of the ground espresso ink.
What is really cool, is that some of the layers of pink and brown, gave a reddish hue in places. I love the effect! It's hard to believe I only used 2 colors. I also applied Glitter Pops of Color, dabbing randomly on my background, just for some added sparkle.
I also had some opaque white Glimmer hot foil in my stash that I've never used. My foiling was done using my Glimmer Hot Foil System. The hot foil effect with my ELC Burst hot foil die came out a little bolder than what I was expecting, probably because I had such a dark background underneath, but I'm totally ok with it.
Just remember, if you want to hot foil on top of ink blending or ink smooshing, make sure you dry the inked cardstock with a craft heat tool for at least 30 seconds, to heat set the ink before foiling, or allow to dry naturally before foiling.
I also added some white accents to my crosses, using a gel pen, to give a reflected light effect from the foiled "Son"rays. I mean lets face it; bunnies are cute, but Easter is about a risen Savior!
Lastly, I stamped my sentiment from the True Story stamp set, using my Misti stamp positioner. This collection has been such a huge hit and sold out twice already but Erin Lee has more on the way and ready to ship Apr 1st, thank goodness! Check out the entire release, here!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Terri
