Gratitude Card Celebrating Scrapbook.com 25th Anniversary

I could not let August go by without celebrating Scrapbook.com and their 25 year Anniversary in business! I am so thankful that they gave me the opportunity years ago to create projects for them on occasion, and even happier that this relationship continues. Although, I'm an affiliate, project designer and brand ambassador for a number of companies in the craft and hobby industry, my relationship with them has been the longest and they hold a special place in my heart!

With that being said, I wanted to honor Scrapbook.com's anniversary by creating a gratitude card, thanking them for being such an amazing company. Scroll down for creative details and a little chit chat. I'll have a clickable shopping/supply list at the end of this post, as well.

When I heard that August is their Anniversary month, I considered making a birthday or anniversary card in celebration. Ultimately though, I feel such gratitude and decided I needed to follow my heart.

Luckily, I have some really awesome Scrapbook.com exclusive products in my stash that fit the bill. I wanted to keep this card really clean though, with lots of white. I also opted for Fall colors because it's my favorite time of year and I've been feeling all the Fall feels lately.

I chose the Wildflower Branches Stamp and Die Set, and the Gratitude Stamp and Die Set to create with. I also created an embossed backdrop with one of my favorite Spellbinders 3D embossing folders, using my black Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cut system which is an exclusive product available only at Scrapbookcom. Every year around November leading up to the holidays, I purchase myself a new tool and last year I bought the black Platinum 6. I love it so much!

I began by stamping my images using my Misti stamp positioner with my Scrapbookcom black hybrid ink. Hybrid ink works well with alcohol markers but also for watercoloring, which is my technique used for today.

The other inks I used were Catherine Pooler inks, which are a water based ink. I created with this quartet of inks: Catching Rays, Orange Twist, Eucalyptus and Macchiato. Simply press the ink pad onto your project mat or craft mat, and grab the color with a damp waterbrush. I generally mix in a tiny bit of water into some of my ink so I can layer my colors, light to dark.

My sentiment from the Gratitude stamp and die set was stamped with the same CP inks above (which the exception of Macchiato) to tie all my colorful elements together. 

All of my elements are popped up with Scrapbookcom adhesive strips and I also embellished just a bit with Scrapbookcom Pops of Color liquid gloss embellishment in Sunflower.

Autumn Vibes Card Featuring OLO Markers

I'm back with another card featuring products from Erin Lee Creative, colored with OLO Markers. I purchased the Fall Foliage hot foil plate awhile back and it's the perfect time to color it up!

Yesterday, I foiled up this image with my Spellbinders black hot foil and my Glimmer hot foil machine. Today I colored it up with my OLO markers and I absolutely love them! I'm slowly building my collection and I'm super impressed. They hold more ink than any other artist marker on the market!

The colors that I selected for this project scream Fall. I recently did some swatching and I'm so glad I did, as it's a quick reference for choosing colors.

Here's a breakdown on the color choices:

Browns/Beige: OR 1.0, OR 3.4, OR 3.7, O 4.6, OR 3.8

Red: OR 2.5

Orange: O 2.4, O 2.5

Yellow: Y 2.3

Green:YG 2.1, YG 2.5

I was a little heavy handed with OR 3.8 which is a very dark brown. Next time, I'll back off on it a bit.

I'm still getting used to these colors, but am absolutely having so much fun experimenting!

I also went in with one the brown markers and added lots of little dots when I was finished. What is really interesting is, I don't have any purple OLO markers, but when I blended some of the red, orange and brown, it definitely showed some purple color in places, which is great! I was actually bummed that I didn't have any purple markers for this project so it was a win!

My backing for this card panel includes a yellow/brown plaid paper and dark brown paper from the COZY paper pad from Scrapbookcom.

My sentiment is also from Erin Lee Creative and is from the Written In The Stars stamp set.

 

Unfortunately, I believe this hot foil plate, Fall Foliage, may be discontinued. I'm trying to get confirmation on it, but I don't see it on the site. If I find out otherwise, I'll come back and post a link to it in this paragraph.

No Peel Foiled Ponsettias

I've been foiling all the things lately and stumbled upon what I'm going to call the "no peel foil technique". 

I stumbled upon this by first trying to foil some cardstock, using just my dies with my glimmer machine. I was able to achieve this, by the way. After I peeled off the lining on one of my die cuts, I actually decided I like my cuts with the  top lining intact even better!

 

In order to keep the lining intact, I need to change things up. So, I laid down an adhesive sheet on white cardstock, laid down some pastel foil and burnished it. Burnishing is simply using a bone folder or even a credit card to rub across your adhesive foiled cardstock. 

Now, I can die cut my foiled cardstock and the lining will not peel off  after die cutting. I love the shiny, glossy look! It's gorgeous in person.

The Jumbo Poinsettia Die from Erin Lee Creative, is the die set that I'm using today. It's huge, as you can see, and is a lovely focal piece for an A2 sized card.

I also created an ink splattered backdrop for my Poinsettia, splattering my Ranger Ink Kitsch Flamingo Distress Spray Stain on a trimmed panel. I find the easiest way to get really nice splatters, is to unscrew the bottle and tap the droplets all around from the feeder tube.

I did some bulk foiling recently and shared shortcut tips on my social media. I chose two sentiments for my pair of cards, one in a silver foil and one with black foil. I used the ELC Christmas Greetings hot foil sentiments plates and dies, along with my Glimmer hot foil system.

 My backdrop panel, layered poinsettia blooms and sentiment are all popped on adhesive strips for added dimension. Let me know if you have any questions, in the comment section!
