Orange Spice Card - Sideways Series #1

Hello crafty friends, let's welcome Brutus Monroe in the house! I'm always looking for new coffee themed products for my cardmaking, particularly with Fall just around the corner - my favorite season of the year! I was thrilled when I spotted the new Brutus Monroe Orange Spice stamp set release! It's also available in the Pumpkin Spice Inspiration Box which is chock full of all kinds of crafty goodness. Plus, I'm starting a new cardmaking series, called "Sideways". It's all about the impact that offset focal points can make. It might be a stamped image, a die cut edge, etc. If you're a front and center girlie or guy, maybe this will inspire you to go "sideways" and try something different! If you wish to search for more sideways cards from me in the future, use hashtag #wmwsidewaysseries although I don't currently have a timeline for this series.

All my coloring was done with my OLO Marker artist markers too, and you'll find all the clickable shopping links at the end of this post. Plus, get details on that paper straw that I fashioned. Get to scrolling!

As I said before, Fall is my favorite season. Cooler weather is my jam and we've been having lots of it here in the southern United States, which is unusual this time of year. I always get in the mood for soups and made my first batch of Lasagna soup for the season. Yes, I know, Fall isn't officially here yet, but indulge me!

Now, I initially stamped my cup image on an A2 size card panel and trimmed it down a bit, because I didn't want to much open white space. My dimensions are 3.75 x 4.75 inches which is considered a small-size greeting card, passport size. This provides a more intimate space when working with minimal images.

One of my marker colors is not pictured in the photo, as it was attached on the flip end of one these markers. It was OR2.5, Orangutan. However, all my marker colors are in my supply list at the end of this post.
I typically purchase the brush tip half markers which allows you to connect two markers together with a connector ring. I've had these markers for quite some time and have yet to purchase ink refills. They hold more ink than any full size marker on the market!

I did have a tiny bit of bleed with the hybrid ink I used to stamp my image. I should have heat set my stamping, and didn't. Or allowed it to properly dry naturally. I'm ok with it though. I also used a white gel pen to further embellish my images, and used the mask technique to stamp some of my words in color.

Speaking of which, the sentiment stamp included is a one-line image. However, I wanted to stamp my sentiment with stacked wording, so I grabbed my scissors and promptly chopped up my sentiment into 3 sections. No worries, I do this all the time, and you can too!

The words will easily re-align with my stamp positioner, the next time I use this sentiment in it's intended form.

For the straw, I trimmed a section of patterned paper from the Brutus Monroe Flannel paper pack. I love all the plaids in this gorgeous set of paper. Athough there's a new Pumpkin Spice paper pack that just came out, I'm all about that Flannel paper today. I laid my trimmed paper across the top of the pumpkin and used a pen to draw a curve, following the curved line of the pumpkin. Then, I took my scissors and trimmed off the the paper strip just above the drawn pen line, and adhered my straw, even with the pumpkin curve. So easy! I splattered on some black paint and called it a day.

Thanks so much for popping in today. If you decide to do some shopping or wish to browse for more product information, simply click any of the affiliate links below. These are provided at no additional cost to you. Thanks so much and have a spice filled, caffeinated day!

Terri

This month's Glimmer Club Kit includes the adorable bubble design hot foil plate and two hot foil sentiment plates with outline dies. You also receive a roll of hot foil and selections do vary. I received the Speckled Prism hot foil roll with my Glimmer Kit this month. It has a multi-color shimmer when angled side to side.

If you'd like to receive this kit, the last day to sign up is Aug. 27th, and the kit will ship next month.

Now, the August Stamp & Die Club Kit includes 2 main stamp images with outline dies, 10 different stamp sentiments and two outline border dies for some of the single line sentiments. You can also purchase the stamp set separately by joining the Stamp of the Month Club.

Considering all the health issues I've recently gone through, I really appreciate the sentiment on this card.
Encouraging sentiments have always been a favorite of mine, so I definitely wanted to use it for this card.

To stamp my bottle image, I used Catherine Pooler Macchiato ink, then colored it with my OLO Markers in O7.1, OR7.4, BG2.1, BG2.3 and B2.0.

Did you know you can also purchase OLO Markers in sets at Spellbinders?

The paper that I'm foiling on is a green ombre paper from a paper pad in my stash. And of course, I'm also using my Glimmer Hot Foil System and Platinum 6 to accomplish all my foiling and die cutting today. I love my Spellbinder tools!!

I initially foiled two A2 sized card panels with the green paper, but only used a trimmed portion of that foiling for my first card. These card panels were eventually trimmed down just a bit, to fit on an A2 sized white vertical card.

For my second card I used the leftover foiling to die cut a bottle outline. I also used the bottle die for a vellum die cut and a white cardstock die cut.

Here's how I adhered the bottle together with all three bottle die cuts. But first, please take note that I did stamp only the the bottle top with the cork onto the vellum with the CP Macchiato ink, using a piece of tape to mask below it.

1) White bottle outline is the base
2) Foiled bottle outline is adhered onto the base (trim off the bottle top first)
3) Stamped vellum bottle is adhered on top with a simple staple at the bottle top)

I also did some foiling and reverse foiling with the hot foil plate sentiments included in the Glimmer Club Kit. First, I foiled some sentiments on the green cardstock with my white Spellbinders hot foil. This only comes in a 2-pack of white and black hot foil. I purchased this some time ago and it's probably my most used foils. I highly recommend having the white/black foil in your stash!

You can see some of the sentiments that I foiled in my first photo at the top of the screen. However, for the card above, I used the negative foil with a solid hot foil plate, foiling the negative sheet directly onto the green cardstock. Once you peel off your plastic lining after foiling, the green cardstock peeks through, surrounded by all the gorgeous, shiny white foil. I absolutely love to do negative foiling. Save those leftover foil sheets for negative foiling, people!

Once again, I threw a lot at you, but hopefully it was helpful information?! Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate you so much!

Terri

Pastel Sky Cards for Erin Lee Creative

Hello lovelies. I have some more cards to share featuring the latest Erin Lee Creative summer release, and I am absolutely loving these dies! I used 3 different die sets (with some glossy cardstock) to create these gorgeous pastel sky cards. Something about these designs gives me a cartoonish feel, which I love. What do you think? Cartoon vibes? Scroll down for details You'll find my clickable shopping/supply list at the end of this post.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

These cards were so fun to make!  I used the new Wave Cover Plate and my Platinum 6 to create the die cuts. It was simply a matter of taking several different colors of cardstock, mixing and matching the different die cuts, and using two of the frame negatives - pink and blue.

I started by swiping adhesive all over an A2 white card panel, then laying down the first negative frame, setting aside the die cut pieces. You can also use adhesive sheets instead, to adhere the frame and die cuts.

I also trimmed the edges of my die cut card panel, once all the colors were adhered and mounted it to an A2 white card.  The card was trimmed just a tad smaller than A2 size, to match my colorful panel.

The glossy cardstock that I'm using is an A2 paper pad from Scrapbookcom. It's been sitting in my stash for a few months, and I thought the colors would be perfect for what I was going for.

My sentiment is from the new Proud Of You die set. It includes an outline die, however, I opted not to use it as I wanted to place my words on the clouds.

I also decided to create some black die cuts as a staggered backing to my sentiment. I feel like it pops a little more and also lends itself more to the cartoon vibes that I'm feeling.

Since I staggered my sentiment, I decided to also stagger some cloud die cuts. Again, more cartoon vibes, haha! Am I the only one feeling it? I need to hear from some of you!

I wanted both cards to stand on their own a little bit, so for my card further up, I ended up offsetting some of the clouds on the side, trimming off the edge. For the card above, I kept my clouds pretty much centered, as the focal point. Lastly, I glued on some clear sequins for more interest and added sparkle.

I hope this inspires to you to go do some shopping, grab these products, and make all the pretty things! It's possible that once they're gone, they won't be re-stocked, as Erin often does small limited releases.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Tap any of the product brand names below to view more product information or to shop. Have a great weekend!

Terri
