World Cardmaking Day Fall Card

Today is a cardmaker's favorite day of the year; World Cardmaking Day.  Of course, I'm not going to let this momentous occasion pass me by. Today's project was created specifically for the challenge going on over at the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Blog.

The challenge is to create a Fall card using orange, yellow and green.  I chose the Elegant Leaves stamp set from Sunny Studio Stamps and a sentiment from the Scrapbook.com Fall Sampler stamp set.  I stamped with my Misti on mixed media paper and did some generational stamping as well, using a variety of inks.  I also did some ink splattering.

For the glitter strip, I placed a strip of extreme tape from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L onto white cardstock, peeled the lining, then sprinkled with glitter.

Watercolored Autumn Leaves Card

Hello friends.  Today, I'm sharing another Autumn card, featuring products from Sunny Studio Stamps.  You'll find links to most of the products that I used, at the end of this post.  While you're here, let me mention that Scrapbook.com is celebrating their 20th Anniversary in the craft and hobby industry.  Wow! As I mentioned, I'm using some brand new products from Sunny Studio Stamps.  Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year and I love making seasonal cards.  

When stamping my leaf images, I used Catherine Pooler ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  It gives my stamp a much crisper image and better flow for watercoloring.

The technique I used is to swipe my water based brush marker (Tombow and Marvy are great choices) on my Waffle Flower Water Media Mat, then grabbing the color with a damp waterbrush.  I did stamp my leaves onto Strathmore watercolor paper.  You can use mixed media paper as well.

I usually start with darker colors on the edges and work my way in with the lighter colors.  Be sure and expel a bit of water from your water brush, onto a paper towel before grabbing another color.  You also don't want the colors to absorb into the barrel of the water brush which can muddy up your colors.  If that happens, just unscrew your waterbrush and refill with fresh water.

My sentiment was also inked with Catherine Pooler ink, onto Neenah cardstock.  I popped up the partial heat embossed sentiment onto colored cardstock, using foam tape.  All my adhesives are from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
