Let's Get Spicy with Coffee Loving Cardmakers

It's time for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Fall/Winter Blog Hop!  I'm happy to say that I've been participating in this hop since it's inception, many years ago.  I'm also a former DT member (brew crew) and this wonderful group holds a special place in my heart.  My project today features lots of deliciousness, including the Pumpkin Spice stamp set from Pink & Main, and that awesome heat embossed sentiment from the Scrapbook.com Fall Sampler stamp set.

For my embossed sunbeam, I used Copic Markers on the raised portion of heavyweight Neenah cardstock and gradually blended from dark to light, using YR68, YR15, Y17 and Y21.  I also used those same colors on the pumpkin pie as well as the pumpkin on my cup.  For the browns in my pie crust and cup, I used E32, E33, E31 and E11.  I wanted to make my crust look just a tiny bit burnt, because, let's face it.  We almost always burn the crust a little.....right?  For the "burn effect, I blended in some dark gray using C7.

My sentiment was masked and partially inked in black.  For the word, spice, I had blended some Scrapbook.com hybrid inks onto my circle die cut, stamping with my Misti and their new premium clear embossing ink.  After sprinkling clear embossing powder, I heated with my craft tool.  Just before the clear embossing becomes totally set, sprinkle on some copper or gold glitter, tap off excess and then heat again.  It gives wonderful results!  Lastly, I used white puffy paint for the whipped cream on the pie.

Paper Smooches October Challenge

Sometimes, you need a little inspiration when you've lost your crafty mojo.  I have not felt like creating lately.  Life stressors can sometimes get in the way.  So, I took the suggestion of a friend and forced myself to sit down and create.  Often, I'll look for challenges that can offer a theme and help jump start my creativity.  Today's project was created for the October challenge over at 

Paper Smooches.

The challenge was to use one of the design team member projects for your inspiration.  I chose inspiration from this card by Michelle Boyer.  You can check out her project here.

I followed her ink blending background theme, using the Paper Smooches 

Hot Dot Stencil along with blending tools and ink from Scrapbook.com.  You'll find all the product links at the end of this post.

Where Michelle has placed her leafy accents, I used opposite corners and placed ink blended leaves using the Paper Smooches Linked Leaves Die, ink blending first on Neenah cardstock, then splattering with brown paint, before die cutting.

I also added puffy stickers from Crate Paper, instead of the small embellishments that she used, and heat embossed a sentiment from the Scrapbook.com Fall Sampler stamp set onto orange cardstock.

Autumn Cards With New Ink Blending Tools

I'm so excited to share some amazing new products from Scrapbook.com!  I've also got a YouTube tutorial for today's project, as well.  Let me tell you, I've quickly fallen in love with these hybrid inks and the new domed blender tool.  You will love them too!  I've made a couple masked, ink blended cards that also feature the new Fall Sampler stamp set and exclusive new double sided adhesive foam shapes.  Stick around for a minute or two.  You won't be disappointed.

You'll see in my YouTube video, how I masked my card with painter's tape.  There an approximate 2 minute fast speed segment where I take you through the masking and blending process.

You'll want get your dome shaped applicators well saturated for the smoothest, boldest blend.  And, because they're dome shaped, no harsh circle lines!  Genius!

This first card was a sample that I made.  You'll see the second card in the video tutorial.  A few tips of note, wrap burlap string around your cardstock border, apply Nuvo dream drops then sprinkle with Nuvo confetti.  Glue on some Nuvo gemstones or pop up with the mini foam squares from Scrapbook.com!  You'll see links to all the products at the end of this post.
