Merry Christmas from Graciellie Design and Thermoweb

Another Friday has arrived and this particular Friday is special.  After all, it's the second to last Friday before Christmas, and the third day of Hanukkah, for my Jewish friends.   It's also time to share another collaboration project for Graciellie Design and Therm O Web!

Today's project features the holiday release from Graciellie Design, aptly titled Jingle Bells.  In fact, right now, you can scoop up this fabulous digital stamp set for a song....get it?  Song?  Jingle Bells?  Never mind.  

Seriously though, 5 sentiments and one super fun image to color at a price that is easy on the wallet.  Running out of time to make Christmas cards?  Click to purchase, download the file, upload the picture in a Word document and print, color, cut and glue!  Super easy.  Plus, you can resize your image to fit your card needs, as I did.

You'll find a ton of inspiration on foiling.  Of course, Gracie is my favorite expert and as a designer for Therm O Web, you have a front row seat to her many talented creations on her blog.  If you're not already a member of her YouTube channel, you should be.  She is an expert on tutorials!

Today's project features a foiled background using the Sparkling Silver and Radiant Red Fancy Foils, along with the Holiday Cheer sentiments and Ornamental Holiday Background toner adhesive cardstock from the Foil-Mates product line.  Want to know how easy this is?

Let me just lay it out as easy I can...

1.  Open the package and pull out a beautiful piece of toner background cardstock (Foil Mates)

2.  Heat up your heat laminator.

3.  Open  the package of Fancy Foils and lay your foil on top of the Foil Mates background (sparkly side up).  

4.  Place it inside a sandwich.  What's a sandwich?  A large piece of parchment paper folded in half with a piece of cardstock inside to stabilize your foiling.  

5.  Place the folded side of your "sandwich" seam side first into your heated up laminator.  Wait a few seconds while the magic begins.

6.  Open up your sandwich and peel off the plastic foil sheet to reveal shiny, sparkly, yummy stuff! (I like to run mine through twice, just to make sure everything adheres nicely)

7.  Grab your camera and snap a photo of yourself in the mirror to capture that giddy smile!

Blog Hop with Graciellie Design + Really Reasonable Ribbon Collab

I'm featuring the "Jingle Bells" digi stamp set.  I am totally smitten with that sentiment which reminds me of one of my favorite movies..... Polar Express!  Five amazing sentiments included with this fun Jingle Bell image.

I'm also using a couple different digital paper images from the Holiday Traditions digital paper pack, for my card; the holiday stripes and mini bells with poinsettias.  Aren't these papers just gorgeous?   

   

The design team are working with their choice of ribbon from the October and November Club Assortment from RRR.  I chose the October set, with traditional holiday colors.  It includes 9 styles and 17 yards of ribbon and lace.

I fashioned a pretty bow using the solid red and green with gold trim.  Scroll further down to see how I used the lace; as an accent border with my striped paper.  So pretty!  I adore lace, in every color and size.  One can never have too much lace.  There's a ton of inspiration at the RRR blog.  Check it out!

A few quick card details:  My papers and sentiment was printed on Neenah white cardstock and sized to layer an an A2 kraft card.  My paper bell was printed on Strathmore Mixed Media vellum paper and colored with Tombow dual brush markers.  My sentiment was die cut with a scalloped die and the edges blended with Ranger Ink Brushed Corduroy distress ink.  To place my mini gold jingle bells, I used a hole punch several times to make a space large enough to push the bells half-way through, sealing the edges on the back side using my Westcott glue pen.  It required that I use double stacks of foam squares to have my paper bell raise up and be level with the backside of the bells.  Otherwise, the paper bell would look uneven.  This allows for a uniform appearance, besides it was easy to do!  You'll find the mini bells in the Christmas Craft section of Hobby Lobby.

Make A Budget Friendly Pine Cone Bell With Ribbon Resource

Today, it's all about budget friendly ribbon crafts.  I'll tell you, there's a lot of budget friendly crafts out there and I was a little stumped coming up with something fresh, but I think this is fun, unique and very inexpensive; a decorative and functional Pine cone Bell.

You will need these ribbons from

The Ribbon Resource - May Arts Ribbon Retail Store:

419-14 3/8" Red Mini Pom Pom Ribbon (5.5")

SM10 1/8" Natural Burlap String (1.5 yards)

You will also need:

Hot glue gun/glue sticks

Clear Glue (Tombow)

2.48" or 63mm Rustic Jingle Bells 

Fine Point Scissors
Pinecone (approx. 5" tall)

This is super easy to make so to begin, we're going to make a little "nest".  It's easiest to simply wrap the burlap string around 3 fingers, six to eight times, then continue wrapping the same strand of string with just two fingers, another 6-8 times.  Do this loosely.  Loop one end of string through and tie off a knot.  Trim ends.  

You can pull a few strands of the burlap string to loosen and drape to your desire.  No need to glue this onto your bell, as you will glue the Pinecone on top of the bell and that will keep your knotted ribbon from falling off.

Next, take some fine tipped scissors and trim the balls from a 5.5" section of mini pom pom ribbons.  This is equal to 25 mini pom poms.  Randomly glue each ball with clear glue.  I use Tombow Mono Aqua glue.  Space out your pom poms as there's no need to completely cover each pinecone stem, unless of course, you want to!

When finished, simply hot glue your pinecone to the top of your bell.  If your bell has a ridge at the top as mine did, you'll want to fill in a little hot glue on both sides of the ridge, to make a level field for gluing the base of your pine cone.  

Now, for the cost.... I actually purchased these rustic bells from the Christmas Craft section of Hobby Lobby and at the time, all Christmas Crafts were 50% off.  My calculation before the discount for the ribbon that costs pennies per section (.74 and .37) plus the bells which were 6.99 for 6 bells, plus the glue which was also pennies.... approximately $2.40 each.  Consider that you may find the bells half price, as I did, and that cuts the cost of the bell with a final total of $1.80 plus tax, or thereabouts.  Not bad!  I imagine if you were to purchase this in a gift shop, the cost would be closer to $15.00 perhaps?  Not only is it pretty, but you can pick it up and jingle it!  Just watch out for the prickly pine cone which, by the way, was courtesy of the lumbering pine down the street..... and FREE!
