Watercolored Bookmark with Adornit + Big News

I'm so happy to share that I've been chosen as a brand Ambassador for Adornit.  Officially, I'm an Adornit "It" Girl!  More about that in a minute, but first I want to show you this pretty bookmark that I made using the Adornit Art Play Paintables and distress ink to watercolor.

To get that pretty edging on my paper, I simply ran just the top and bottom edge through my Cuttlebug die cutting machine with a shaped nesting die.  Then, I jazzed up some of the white space around my art play image by stamping with a background stamp and distress ink and spreading some of the color around with my water brush.  I've also added stickers from the Documented Faith collection.  For this project, I placed my stickers on white cardstock, chopped up my stickers and ran them through my Xyron sticker machine, for a little bit of raised dimension.

Now for my happy news.  As an Adornit Ambassador, I'll be sharing lots of new products in the coming months and showcasing my creations as well.  Adornit is pulling out all the stops with several new lines of product and has added a couple of new licensed artists who have developed some super fun crafty products to create with.  I can't wait to share all the fun stuff headed your way.

I've got an upcoming project that will be on the Adornit blog soon that features one of their brand new collections of Art Play Paintables and it just might have something to do with coffee!  Stay tuned!

Additional supplies: Tim Holtz distress inks and waterbrush, Tombow dual brush markers, Xyron adhesives, ribbons, metal key, background stamp (Two Paper Divas), hot glue, Prima decorative clip, Lifestyle Nesting frame dies

I know there are a lot of planner girls out there, so, today I'm sharing one of the ways that I like to expand the use of my planner; devotionals or scripture journaling.  I have an Adornit coloring planner and I like to use those "extra" pages" for weekly devotions.  It's nice to flip through now and then and be reminded of things that I need to work on.  Loving those who are hard to love is one of those things that I need to work on.  Can I get an Amen?!

I love incorporating the Adornit Art Play Paintables into my devotions.  It's a total no-brainer, for me.  For this project, I colored up the floral bouquet from the Sweet Blossoms collection, designed by owner/artist at Adornit, Carolee McMullins.

You can find many of the Adornit products at Scrapbook.com but some of the newest products can only be found at Adornit, such as the Sweet Blossoms collection and the new patriotic and summer
Art Play Paintables:

I also used the Adornit blender paper in this fun gray striped design, not only as a backdrop on my page, but also as a little edging to the right of my scripture.   In addition, I've used some of the Adornit planner stamps, stickers and even trimmed some elements from the Adornit "Family Path" scrapbook paper collection, the "blessings" sentiment and the yellow chevron arrows.  Adornit even has a fun selection of washi tape or decorative tape.  You can find that, here.

Here's a close-up of my coloring which was done with my Faber Castell watercolor pencils.  Did you know Adornit has now come out with a line of their own watercolor pencils that will be available soon in stores?  I can't wait to get my hands on them!

This photo just doesn't capture all the sparkle and glitter from my Kaisercraft glitter pens.  All my writing was done with my black glitter pen and all those tiny dots you see, as well.  I use these fun glitter and gel pens on almost all my coloring projects for added sparkle.

The Soulful Side of Adornit

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links.)

As a relative "newbie" on the crafty side of things, I've been lucky in the last couple years to have met and worked with some amazing people.  One of those that I'm happy to call friend, is Carolee McMullins, creator of Carolee's Creations and Adornit.  We've worked together on a few projects now and I'm always happy to promote her amazing products.  I use them regularly, not because I have to, but because I want to.

I've showcased numerous Adornit projects, from the Art Play prints and wood, to the Art Play Paintables and now, the Adornit Art Play Coloring Books.   The Art Play Paintables were presented to the public about a year ago and have evolved quickly, starting with designer/artist Lindsay Ostrom, and expanded to include designs this year featuring new collections from owner Carolee McMullins, Stephanie Ackerman and Michele Hamilton.

Today, I'm focusing on the Soulful Side of Adornit, with a nod to longtime designer/artist/crafter, Stephanie Ackerman, well known for her Documented Faith series.  She's created a series of Faith based images that are perfect for cards, scrapbook, bible bookmarks and more.

This image that I colored today is from the Walk by Faith Art Play Paintable collection.  I chose to keep this fairly simple.   Sometimes less, is more, and I plan on using this as a sympathy or encouragement card.  The beauty of these products are, the design is already laid out; all you need to do is add color and your own special touch.  I love the open space on this image which allows me to get a little creative and add some extra's of my own.  I'm also using the Adornit Blender paper for my backdrop.

As you can see, I've taken liberty with the image by adding cracks to the wooden cross, little dots everywhere, embellishing the lettering with a gel pen.... do whatever you want.  It's easy and fun and I'm going to step out on a limb and say, it's virtually impossible to mess it up.  You can't beat the cost of the Art Play Paintable sheets.  At under $2.00 each, with numerous images to work with, you can create quite a few projects and get tremendous bang for your buck.

Visit Stephanie's blog, for boundless inspiration, and get to know her, if you don't already.  Purchase some of the Art Play for yourself or a friend.  Coloring is relaxing, calming and helps reduce stress.  These quality artist papers can be used with colored pencils, markers, paint and more.

If you really want to make someone's day, give the gift of Adornit Coloring Books for Christmas this year.  I have women in my life who are not crafters, just your every day mom, sister, friend, and they are loving coloring books for adults right now.  Another new product that just came out is the line of Art Play Washi Tape, so take a peek at those as well.  The designs are fresh and unique and I think you'll like what you see.  This is just one roll in the series, below.
