Water Colored Beach Scene for TPD Stamps

Good morning crafters!  Today, I'm sharing this lovely watercolored card using the brand spanking new stamp set from TPD Stamps, "Way To Go".  This is one of the newest sets in the June release and is perfect to celebrate those milestones; birthdays, graduation, etc.

To begin, I stamped my image, then used my Tombow dual brush markers to watercolor by swiping across an acrylic block, spritzing with water and grabbing the color with my Tim Holtz water brush to begin painting.  A little blotting with a paper towel, helps to get that "cloud" look for the sky. 

If you'll notice the picket fence stamp in the graphic further down, you might spot that I flipped it and used the bottom, flat end for my watercolored wood plank fence.  I love it when a stamp offers duality.  For my sea grass, I stamped first in brown, then again in white, using my Ranger Picket Fence dabber on my stamp.

Growing In Unity - Day 3

Welcome to day 3 of my stint as the GIU (Growing in Unity) girl.  I'm showing you my creations all week long and if you comment every day on my blog post, you'll be entered into a random drawing for 25 random stamps from the Unity Stamp Company.  Wowza, 25 stamps!

Today's mixed media project is titled "Grunge Love".  Love is kind of messy, right?  And, with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought I'd get all mushy, uh, I mean messy.  ;)

I did a whole lot of distressing to this stamped/hand-cut Unity heart  (Everything Love Jan 2014 sentiment kit) including embossing the card stock with my Cuttlebug and using Ranger embossing powder in black and white.  I sanded the raised edges a bit and then had a happy little accident with ink on my knuckle.  Haha, so I decided to add a couple more inked "knuckle" dots to my design.  The Love You sentiment is also from the same kit.

Here's a close-up of the finished heart.  Notice the inked doily?  I used my Unity Grainy background stamp, dabbed Tim Holtz Picket Fence distress ink all over my stamp, and stamped in a criss-cross pattern on a Maya Road kraft doily.  I dried it quick, with my embossing heat tool.

ADORNit feature - Art Print "Craft Room Display" with fabric

On Monday, the design team at Mountain Plains Crafters participated in a joint blog hop with ADORNit; creator of all things, fabric, paper crafts and the all new Art Play Paintables, designed by artist Lindsay Ostrom.  We created sooooo many lovely things that I'm breaking it down in a more detailed format this week, featuring each of my creations in detail with tutorials.

This next piece blends ADORNit fabric with Art Play Prints.  This polka dot fabric is called Bebop Dot Black and the print is called "Craft Room Display".  For this project, I'm using the 11" large ADORNit Pointed Wood Brackets.  Yes, they have wood products too!  

To make this, I took the print and placed one of the smaller coordinating wood panels from ADORNit on top, traced the border with a pencil, then trimmed.  I also traced the outline of the fabric with the larger wood panel and trimmed as well.  The fabric was adhered to the wood with my Tombow Xtreme adhesive runner, which is perfect for using on wood and fabric.  I then used Mod Podge over the fabric and art print, with a second coat as well after the first coat dried.  Next, I used Plaid FolkArt ® Multi-Surface Glitter Acrylic Paints - Sequin Silver - around the edges and coated with DecoArt Glamour Dust.  We crafters love our glitter, right?

I cut strips of the same fabric used on the wood panel, fringed them and fashioned into cute bows.  These were adhered with generous doses of Tombow Mono Aqua glue.  Are they not adorable?
