Coffee & Hearts Shaker Card

We all have our coffee loving friends, right?  Well, I have a coffee loving and crafting best friend.  Her name is Nancy.  I made this card just for her, on her birthday yesterday.  We are both super busy ladies but we try to make time now and then to get together for a cup o' joe or a crafting session.  It doesn't happen nearly as often as I would like!  We did, however, head to a concert last night to see Air Supply.  They were awesome!  Alas, that is a story for another day.

I like to think all my cards are special but when you are creating for your best friend, it's more so.  I used the Jillibean Soup Small Heart Shaker Card Set.  It comes with 8 cards and envelopes, along with 8 shaker hearts that have a peel off sticky backing on the backside.  These are not yet available at Scrapbook.com, however if you click the link, you can select to be notified when they are in stock.  I love them!  They are so easy to use!

I also used the Jillibean Soup Hug in a Mug shaker die and stamp set, also available soon.  I love the possibilities with that adorable heart and cup; gift cards, shape cards and more.

In addition, I used Ranger Ink distress oxide ink in Worn Lipstick for my cup.  I simply trimmed a piece of watercolor paper and dredged it several times on a craft mat that had been inked and spritzed with water.  Once dry, I splattered water droplets and blotted with a paper towel.

My paper is from the Echo Park Hello Faith collection.  Isn't that plaid lovely?

I have another tip for you as well.  Because the Jillibean soup cards come with the heart already cut out on paper, how do you then line up more paper and trim a similar sized heart so your shaker will fit?  I discovered one of the small heart dies in the Scrapbookcom exclusive heart nesting dies works perfectly for this.  You can then pop your shaker through the heart cut out on the card and the heart cut on your panel.

Although Jillibean Soup makes shaker fillers, I'm using Sparkletz from Buttons Galore and More.  All of my adhesives are by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, including the foam circles that I used to pop up my plaid panel and coffee cup.  Thanks so much for stopping in!  Stay crafty...... Terri
