Snowmen on Slopes Card for Scrapbookcom

Hey cardmakers. I've got another card featuring the new Simon Hurley/Ranger Ink release. My lovely peeps from Scrapbook.com sent me the Sketched Snowmen stamp set to create with. I had intentions of getting this out in the blog-o-sphere a lot sooner, but life got in the way, as it is known to do. Scroll down for some quick details, and I'll have my shopping supply list at the end of this post. Plus a COUPON CODE!

I adore creating little winter scenes, and I wanted my focal element to be a ski slope with my snowman on skis.

First, I ink blended some Ranger Distress Oxide in in Worn Lipstick in a sloped angle on my A2 white mixed media cardstock from scrapbook.com. I also splattered inky droplets of the same ink mixed with a touch of water, above the top of my ink blended slope.

I also stamped some snowflakes (using the smallest snowflake in the stamp set) randomly onto the upper section of my mixed media cardstock. However I wanted it to be faded in color, so I stamped my snowflake in the ink and then stamped onto scrap paper before using the leftover ink on the stamp to then press onto my cardstock. I also placed tiny dots of Ranger Stardust glitter glue in the center although it's hard to see in these photos.

Next, I hand trimmed a sloped hillside with white and gray paper, stacking them together when trimming, so I could stagger them when adhering to my panel. The gray paper is from my SBC Christmas paper pad and is meant to be a shadow to my white slope. It helps to define the area where my snowman is skiing.

I also trimmed another section of white cardstock with a different slope which is adhered flat to my card panel. The other two slopes were adhered together but I placed adhesive foam strips behind the gray paper, to pop out my slopes. My skiing snowman is also popped up.

I did some more splattering with the Worn Lipstick mixture on white cardstock and created "signage" for my snowman to hold. I trimmed off his mittens so it appears as if he's holding the sign.

The colorful papers that you see are from my SBC Merry patterned paper pad.

To color my snowmen, I used a variety of artist markers that I had in my stash and used a white gel pen for additional embellishment.

I didn't have the coordinating die set for this stamp set, so I fussy cut all my images. I'll have both products listed in my supply listed if you're interested in purchasing any of these products.

This card is larger than an A2 size, measuring in at 4 1/2 x 6 inches. I tend to eyeball my work and measure later, haha. There are several wonderful sentiments in my stamp set, but the one I used is probably my favorite Christmas sentiment. And I love the Hallmark movie by the same name!

You have approximately 4-5 days to use coupon code HOLLY at checkout. For orders over $100, the discount is 10%. For orders under $100, the discount is 8%.
