Surprise Birthday Party for Suzy!

Today, we celebrate the birthday of that sassy red head, the Queen of Snark.... Miss Suzy from So Suzy Stamps!  There's a ton of fun on this blog hop, plus prizes.  I mean, who has a party and doesn't bring a gift, right?

My card features the "Ordinary Days" sentiment, "Dot Splatter" for my fairy dust, wings from the the "Fairy with Flower" "Spire Sage", and several of Suzy's Ink bites.

I'm using lots of distress ink with my Ranger blender tool (on Strathmore 300 series water color paper), for my dark sky and used my water brush with So Suzy Angel Wings ink bites to give it a more cloudy appearance.

The yellow glow in the center is courtesy of more blending, but this time I'm using So Suzy Ink Bites in Sunflower Sue from the Autumn Equinox ink bites collection.  The bottom portion of my watercolor paper was blended with Ranger Cracked Pistachio.  I scrunched up a paper towel and dipped it into Suzy's Hunter Green ink bites, also from the Autumn Equinox collection, and dabbed it all along the bottom, before stamping with my Spire Sage foliage stamp.  My black inks are Memento.

For my wings and fairy dust, I stamped just the wings from the Fairy with Flowerheat embossed with Nuvo embossing powder on vellum and fussy cut, then glittered them up with Rangers Stickles Glitter Glue in Mercury Glass.  My wings are popped out with a very thin strip of adhesive along the bottom edge of the wings and I folded that edge inward so the wings would be raised.    I stamped the "Dot Splatter" stamp with So Suzy Angel Wings white pigment ink bites, them dabbed on more of the Stickles glitter glue, for my fairy dust.

Swirled Hearts and So Suzy Stamps

This month, at So Suzy Stamps, we are shining the spotlight on the featured stamp of the month; Swirly Hearts.  Several of the design team will be showcasing their take on this romantic stamp, and you can take a look at each of their lovely projects by visiting their links at the end of this post.

My project was created using distress inks, ribbon, my Misti and "icing".   Scroll down for a few quick tips....

First, lightly spritz watercolor paper with water.  Spray on Ranger Cracked Pistachio Mist and tip paper.  Dry with heat emboss tool.  Blot if necessary.

Fill in remaining space using Ranger Hickory Smoke using same steps as above.  Use the Misti Stamping Tool to line up the Swirly hearts.  I inked only the outer edge of the center heart, as I wanted to fill in with more Cracked Pistachio.  Stamp at least 3 times to get full coverage.  Use a water brush to fill in additional Cracked Pistachio ink in center heart.  Add "icing" by adding Ranger Stickles glitter glue in Frosted Lace.  Allow to dry or use heat emboss tool to dry.

Add a ribbon focus for that extra dreamy, romance factor.  I almost forgot to mention.... I masked another sentiment, Love and Happiness, to add the wording "with love" just below my heart.  A few glued sequins and we are done.  Hand this beauty over to your loved one and score bonus points for handmade awesomeness!

Spring Blog Hop at Two Paper Divas Stamps

Welcome to the first Two Paper Divas Blog Hop of 2016!  If you arrived from Katie's blog, you're in the right place.  We're celebrating Spring and I've got a watercolored beauty for you today.

My project is a bit of a departure from your typical Spring themed cards, but I did want to use Spring colors so I broke out my TH distress inks, Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistachio.

First, I watercolored my background, and once it was dry, I stenciled my background with a crackle stencil and distressed the edges with my TH distress tool.  I used the same coral ink for my heart which I drew and free-handed.  I  wanted to showcase this sentiment from one of the new March stamp sets called, "Yes To Sprinkles" with stenciled gold glitter paste for the "sparkle".  The sentiment was stamped with white pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I love the crisp, clean lines that clear embossing renders to a project.

Next, hop on over to Tracie's blog.  If you get lost, scroll down for the complete hop listing.  Be sure to check out all the amazing projects by the Two Paper Divas Design Team members!  Don't forget, there's a prize up for grabs so be sure to leave a comment at each stop along the way.
