Growing in Unity - Day 4

Welcome to day 4 of my stint as the GIU (Growing in Unity) girl.  I'm showing you my creations all week long and if you comment every day on my blog post, you'll be entered into a random drawing for 25 random stamps from the Unity Stamp Company.  Wowza, 25 stamps!

I made this for a gentleman who sings in our church choir, and is just retiring from his job after 30 years.  He's an avid hunter/fisherman, so I used a piece of WRMK designer paper that has this stag on it.  The stamp set I'm using today is called, "Sing a New Song".  It's one of my favorites and I felt it would be the perfect set to use for this card, embracing the recipient's love of music and hunting. 

I used the sentiment and musical notes from the kit, stamping with Colorbox archival ink in Saddle.  I did a little water coloring around the sentiment as well.

For the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from the "Everything More" sentiment kit.  This kit is a staple and has a perfect sentiment for just about any occasion.  I inked up the edges of the musical note paper with the same ink.

Deer Birthday card

Why is it that I'm always in a hurry these days?  The great thing about stamping is, you can go as simple or as elaborate as you want.  I could have spent some quality time with distress markers (actually, I did use some on the heart....) or stamping on patterned paper and fussy cutting these images, but sometimes, simple is just right.

 

When it's late at night and you remember that it's the hubs birthday?  Yup.  You go simple; a sweet card for my son to give his dad.  I used my new Queen & Co washi tape and bubbles that I purchased from the Scrapbook Expo last week.  Not too girly, and I think all the brown gives it just the right touch for a guy, especially with that natural twine from May Arts Ribbon.  Those stamps?  From one of my favorite stamp companies of course, Unity Stamp Co!  Happy Birthday Dad!  **Scroll to the bottom for giveaway details***

Loving deer card

This sweet deer is part of a Christmas set from the Unity Stamp Co called Merry Deerest but I really wanted to bring him out and put a different spin on him.  So I used some springy peach and green colors with a gold background and some burlap ribbon.  The sentiment is from a grab bag special collection also from Unity and I stamped it on some linen textured designer paper.  I just love him, he's so adorable.  He really needs a name.  Any suggestions?

Deer Christmas card

Got started on an order of Christmas cards and I had permission to do whatever I wanted from the buyer.  So I pulled out a stamp I recently received from the "Merry Deerest" stamp kit that I ordered from the Unity Stamp Co.  

I started with some kraft cards and added a 4x4 doily.  I had printed out some frames in different sizes and colors with my Cricut using the Straight From The Nest cartridge and went to work.  The smaller white frame was edged with, of all things.....a mistletoe stamp roller in green ink.  Kind of gave it a cool look I think.  The larger frame was 4 1/2" and was made with red/white cardstock.  

My local craft store had a bunch of stuff 1/2 off so I picked up these faux pine branches, a pack of 10 for $1.00!  I was super excited about that.  I cut pieces from each stem so it only took me 2 stems to make 6 cards.   GOT TO USE MY NEW UNITY BOW MAKER!!  I've been wanting one of these forever and it is the best thing!  If you don't have one, get one!  It's only $5.99 and they have a video tutorial to help you out.  I was making bows lickety-split.  (And no, I am not getting paid to advertise this people, just love the products!)

So I tied the bows to the pine stem to make sure they didn't  come off because I just didn't think a glue dot would do the trick.   To finish things off, I made little tags for the bottom using the other stamp that came with the Merry Deerest kit which is the Merry and Bright sentiment.  Each one of the tags is just a little bit different whether it be different brads or a little glitter glue, etc.  

So there you have it.  Took me, oh, maybe only about 5 hours to finish....'cause I took my sweet little 'ole time but it was fun and next time, I'll have a better handle on things so it goes quicker.  Thanks for looking and I'd love a comment.  Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
