March Glimmer Club Card for Spellbinders

Hey friends, I have a card to share that features the Spellbinders March Glimmer Hot Foil Club selection. This month's kit is called "We Are All Family". Much like the March Stamp Club Kit, the focus is on sentiments and and the ones close to us. Scroll down for creative details and more information regarding this month's Glimmer Club. My supply list will be at the end of this post.

I'm also using some other Spellbinders products to create my card, starting with the A2 white card panel that I dry embossed with the Simon Hurley Bark 3D embossing folder. It adds such amazing texture and interest for my backdrop.

I also created some die cuts as part of my backdrop to showcase my sentiments, using the Berry Fields Border Etched Dies from the Vivid Expressions collection. The papers I used are from a paper pad in my stash, but Spellbinders recently came out with the ColorWheel cardstock collection and I'm pretty certain there are very similar colors, if you'd like to take a look.

My white card panel is A2 size and I glued my die cuts, almost to the top. I ended up trimming some of my card panel so everything would look symmetrical, and trimmed off the excess die cuts from my card edge.

I used the same papers for my berry fields die cuts, for my hot foiled sentiments. I foiled and die cut with 3 different colors of paper using my Aura Foil that was included in this months Glimmer Club. Foil colors may vary, if you decide to join the club. I do love Aura though, it's one of my favorites. It's gold but with prisms and shimmer when you angle and move your card from side to side.

I opted to not do much embellishing for my card, since I was making this for my dad. I don't think it's too girly, and he's all about gardening and working in the yard. I think these colors would also work for the women in your life, however my mom passed away, almost 5 years ago, which is why I selected the "Dad" word. I decided to use numerous sentiments on my card that were very fitting for my dad. I know he will love this!

Because my card panel was already close to A2 size after trimming, I ended up scoring my own base card, starting at approx. 6x6 inches, but prepared to scale it down a bit.

As many of you know by now, I tend to create first and measure later. My full card dimensions ended up being 4 3/4  x 5 5/8 inches.

If you'd like to get your hands on this club kit, the window for new subscribers is Mar. 6th-27th. You can cancel or re-join at any time, with no obligation. Some folks like to skip month's, if a particular release is not really their style.

Military Thank You Card

Today's card is all about thanking the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Many of us know someone serving in various branches and some of us have lived the military life. I grew up an "Army brat" and know how difficult it can be when our loved ones are sent overseas.

I'll be sending this to a friend who was recently shipped out to the middle east for a year. I haven't really found an all encompassing line of products for this type of card, until the new release came out from Erin Lee Creative. There are soooo many different options with the entire line of products just released. Even hot foiling dies!

This card is closer to a square size with measurements of 4.5 inches by a little more than 4.75 inches. I basically eyeballed my panel sizes based on the size of my center die which is very large.

I made 3 cuts with my center die; one on white cardstock, one on a camo style paper and one on an adhesive foam sheet.

The camo paper is from a Paper House Productions  paper pack in my stash, however I believe it is retired. You can find basic camo paper in most large hobby stores but if you'd rather shop online, Scrapbook.com has a great selection of camo paper. I used this to back my die cut which consists of the adhesive foam sheet die cut using the ELC Thank You So Very Much die set, topped with the coordinating white cardstock die cut. I love how the dimension makes everything pop. Not sure how this adhesive will hold up in the middle east though, because I hear it's HOT!

I also did some embossing with a dotted embossing folder in my stash using Hero Arts cardstock, then backed that with another piece of kraft paper.

All my elements are popped up on adhesive foam squares, including my sentiment from the Stars & Stripes stamp set.

I also added elements to the inside of my card, using the ELC Thank You Hero die set and glued them down. Alert, alert, alert.... make sure your glue is dry before you fold your card closed! Haha!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm a firm believer in supporting those who are guarding our freedoms and I hope you'll add these amazing products to your life. The hero's in your life will thank you! If you'd like to do some shopping, I've provided convenient affiliate links below, at no additional cost to you!

Heartfelt Creations Every Day Heroes Collection Product Review

The lovely folks at Heartfelt Creations allowed me the opportunity to test and review their new paper release, Every Day Heroes and I'm so happy that they did.  This collection celebrates the every day heroes in our lives and is the perfect product to create layouts and cards that honor those heroes.

(And, for legality purposes.... I have been compensated in product for this review.  All opinions are my own.)

My dad is a retired Army man and served in the Navy as well.  It's definitely a no-brainer that I will be using some of these fabulous pages to document some of his achievements.  However, I also know that amongst many paper collections, there's a silver lining; a collection that serves duality.  In other words, I could see that these papers were not just for heroes but also the perfect compliment for other special remembrances as well.

With that in mind, I chose my first creation with this layout to showcase that duality, so you can see that this collection is not a one trick pony!  True, it celebrates the every day hero but it also does so much more.

I've chosen a favorite photo of my son, from a casual outdoor family wedding (please note, that is a mason jar with sweet tea in his hand. ;)

I also decorated some chipboard with these papers for the striped border and the word "adore".  I'm only working with the paper collection, not the coordinating dies or stamps, therefore, I chose to get super creative with the paper, to show you other things you can do to jazz up a layout, if you are limited in budget.

I wanted to tie in more of the tan colors from the striped border, so I stenciled a section of the page with distress ink and a blending tool.

I traced my chipboard on the backside of the paper that I wanted to use, then cut with my craft knife.  To easily adhere, I ran the trimmed word through my Xyron 2.5" sticker maker.
I also glammed up some of the flowers by distressing with the same ink and adding dimensional glue.

Lastly, I cut one of the tags from the paper shown below.  Are you handwriting your journaling?  You should.  It not only adds a personal touch, but future generations will be able to look back, identify, and remember your handwriting.   Consider that a bonus tip!

I hope I inspired you to utilize this collection in more ways than one.  Feel free to share your thoughts, I would really appreciate it.

You can purchase this paper collection here:

I would also love it if you would visit and like/follow me on my other social media.  Thanks again, Heartfelt Creations, for letting me step into your world for a bit.
