Card For Dad Featuring The Hedgehog Hollow June Kit

Here's my first project for The Hedgehog Hollow design team and I'm featuring mostly products from the June card subscription kit.  This includes cardstock, dies and stamps included in the kit.  Let me share a few key tips on how this A2 sized card came together.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links.  This does not affect your purchase price.)

First, I used my stamp positioner and positioned my black cardstock in the corner.  After stamping my steel cut background stamp with grey pigment ink, I picked up my cardstock, turned it clockwise 180 degrees and re-stamping the same image.  It gave a 3D effect that I really like.  Since it was pigment ink, I misted with my water mister to fade the color even more, blotted dry then heat with my craft heat tool to dry.

For my "Dad" sentiment, I cut the word 3 times with the white cardstock included in the kit, using my manual die cut machine.  Next, I glued all my layers together to give more dimension and popped up with thin strips of foam tape.  I also trimmed a piece of the heavyweight kraft paper include in the kit and cut with the pocket die, then embossed with a wood plank embossing folder.  The pocket die is larger than I wanted on this A2 card, so I simply moved the bottom edge of the die about an inch below the cardstock, to allow for a shorter die cut.   Or you can just trim as you like for your card dimensions.

My smaller sentiment was stamped with the LDRS Creative Raven hybrid ink that was included in the March subscription.  Next, I popped it up with foam circles onto a larger piece of white cardstock.  Ribbon trim and silver foiled black foam circles finish off the embellishments.  The foiled circles remind me of nails hammered into that kraft, woodplank die cut.  What do you think?

This is such a fun kit this month.  Alexandra designed all the stamps and dies for this kit which makes it extra special.  They are exclusive products, only to subscription kit members.  Don't forget, regular subscribers get a free bonus item each month.  The bonus item in the June kit is from the new Arabian Nights collection from Tonic (Copper Blush/embossing powder).

Did you miss my un-boxing video?  Check it out below to see all the contents included in this month's kit with over an $80 value!  It would really make my day if you subscribed to my YouTube channel and gave a "thumbs up" on the video.  Thanks!

Hop on over to The Hedgehog Hollow and check out the shop with details on becoming a kit subscriber.  Each month typically includes stamps and dies from top industry stamp companies, along with video tutorials and exclusive coupon codes.  I'm super excited about what's coming next month!  Don't miss out, join today!

I hope you're following me on my other social media as well!

Halloween and IndigoBlu for Topflight Stamps

I'm happy to be back on the TopFlight Stamps blog, for my second Guest Designer stint.  I'm featuring a brief tutorial here on my own blog, showcasing this spooky Halloween card using IndigoBlu's "Bare Forest 1" stamp for the Anything Goes theme this week.

I love that this 5x4 inch stamp has a built in border which gives the appearance of layers on white cardstock.  It's perfectly sized for an A6 card.

I chose to heat emboss my image using Nuvo Jet Black embossing powder onto Strathmore watercolor paper.  Mixed media paper would work as well.  These are the best types of cardstock/paper to use when blending distress ink.

My plan was to leave a white center and build my colors around it.  The white will be the moon's reflection through the trees.  Using Ranger Ink Fossilized Amber and a blender tool, I inked around the inner edges of my border.  Next, I used my Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Ranger Ink oxides, randomly placing color in the same manner.  Splatter with some water droplets if you like, blot with paper towel and heat dry with heat craft tool.  Use a baby wipe or damp paper towel to wipe off any ink from the heat embossed trees.

I didn't have any other IndigoBlu stamps that would work with my Halloween theme, so I grabbed some alpha stickers from a Harry Potter themed sticker set that I have, and spelled out "Beware", adding to a black cardstock backing.  I used my Ranger distress tool to distress the edges of the black cardstock.

I incorporated more stickers (Tim Holtz Big Chat, Pretty Little Studio) and some trim, fibers and ribbon to further accent and tie in with my theme.

I thought it would be a nice touch to hand draw some tiny bats flying through the woods, lit by the light of the moon.  Once my panel was finished, I trimmed to the edge of the black border, layered on white cardstock, then layered onto a strip of black cardstock that I trimmed and scored for a top fold.

It has been such a pleasure, working with TopFlight Stamps and these wonderful International stamps from around the world.  Check out all of the IndigoBlu stamps, here.

Thanks so much to Donna, for having my join in on the fun this month.  Enjoy the season and get crafty!

Terri

Day One Coffee Loving Cardmakers Summer Blog Hop

I'm so excited for day one of the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Summer Blog Hop!  The record was broken at the Spring Hop, for the number of participants and we certainly hope that trend continues.  We have new, amazing sponsors in addition to the many who continue to support this happy little caffeinated group.

For today's project, I'm putting my drawing and watercoloring skills to work.

I will often Google images that I want to recreate and that is the case for my flamingo.  I shared this side by side comparison of my drawing, from the Googled photo, on my social media awhile back.

I used my Adornit watercolor pencils and water brush to color all my hand drawn images; the flamingo, the ocean with reflection of the flamingo, and the palm tree.

I felt like I should include at least one stamped image, after all, this is a group who loves stamping.  So, I used the Sweet Stamp Shoppe image from the Cuppa Coffee stamp set and did some no line watercoloring.  For this, I used my Tombow dual brushes to swipe on my stamp a faint outline in blue, then orange for my summer beverage.

My triple stacked and popped up sentiment is courtesy of Stamplorations Hello Sunshine die.  I watercolored this as well, and added a coating of clear Nuvo Crystal drops for shine.  It is gorgeous in person!  My flamingo and sentiment were colored on Strathmore watercolor paper 300 series.
Lastly, I stenciled some Bo Bunny Sugar Glitter Paste on my sky and water, and colored a few on top with a yellow Tombow dual brush marker after they were heat dried.  I'm using an A7 sized Bazzill card (scallop trimmed off)  that has been slightly trimmed down, and Adornit scrapbook paper designed by Laura Kelly Designs.

Be sure and create something new that is summer themed and includes a coffee, tea or cocoa image.  It can be a summer drink, even.  Think frappucino!  Then, be sure and join our challenge as there will be a ton of prizes up for grabs.
