Create Halloween Home Decor With Adornit Art Play

As a brand Ambassador for Adornit, I have the happy task of making lots of fun stuff.  It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!  I've got a fun project today that takes your coloring book images and turns it into a festive seasonal home decor project, using the Adornit Art Play Halloween coloring book.

I've colored my image using my Tombow dual brush markers but you can use colored pencils, paint, watercolors..... this watercolor paper accepts just about any coloring medium.

Rather than frame my image, I chose to go an inexpensive route and mount it on a piece of wood covered with a fun wood grain jumbo washi tape that I found on clearance.  I spent right around $5 using a coupon on the wood (Hobby Lobby).

I cut my washi tape to overlap my wood, then smoothed it out on the surface and pressed it into the ridges of the wood all the way around.  For the corners, I used a craft knife to slice, then fold one edge down, and fold the other edge over that.  If you feel you have too much excess tape to do this, simply trim some of the excess.  Finish by trimming all around your frame or simply tuck behind the backside of the wood.

Accent your project as you see fit.  I've added some fun Adornit ribbons to my edges for some texture and additional eye candy.

This super fun coloring book, designed by artist Lindsay Ostrom, is on sale right now at Adornit.com.  Get yours now because once they are gone, they are gone for good.  Adornit is making way for an all new line of Art Play Paintables and launching a new website soon.

So much fun in one place..... happy shopping!

Art/Devotion Journaling with TPD Stamps

I've got another fun project for you that features the newest release from Two Paper Divas Stamps.   This project is a page that I created from my devotion journal, using the Journal It! 1 stamp set as well as those pretty flowers from the Sunshine and Smiles stamp set.

I began by using a measured piece of designer scrapbook paper and applying some white gesso, to make a nice surface for my stamped images.  All of my coloring is with Tombow Dual Brush markers.

I also added a little hand lettered word, "Mercy" to tie into my devotion theme.

The sparkly flowers were hard to capture so here's a blurred photo that I took to show some of the Stickles glitter glue that I added to my flowers.

Finally, here's my scrap paper that I ran through my Xyron Creative Station for edge to edge coverage on my page.  With the leftover sticker backing, I laid a strip of washi tape and cut it in half, to use as a nice edging for the bottom of my page.  I save all my sticker paper backings and you should to.  They come in handy for so many things.

Purchase Journal It!1 here.

Feel Better with Two Paper Divas Stamps

Here's another new release from Two Paper Divas Stamps, called, "Feel Better".  It's the cutest little bird with such sad droopy eyes....I just want to give him a hug!

I colored this little guy with my Tombow Dual brush marker, then blotted water with my Tim Holtz waterbrush, to dilute the color in the middle.  The pretty chevron card was from a set that I picked up at Hobby Lobby, from their Spring collection.  Some fun washi tape, burlap string and a doily complete this festive ensemble.   I think I'd perk right up if I received a fun card like this!  In fact, I know just the person to send this to.....

Starting A Scrapbook Layout "About Me"

My friend Nancy suggested I start an album about me.  Actually, she suggested this a long while ago, however, I've finally decided it's time to do it.  I've been making cards for so long, I've sort of lost my "touch" with scrapping.  It wasn't until a weekend crop about a month ago, that I renewed my gusto for making layouts.  I would say it was my son who was the impetus.  Or rather, his nagging, that I get back to making layouts of his achievements.

Also, National Scrapbook Day just happened.  It's such a fun time to focus on the craft.  I plan to enter my layout into a couple fun challenges, one of which revolves around NSD.  Look for those at the end of this post and enter yourself!

Keep scrolling and I'll show you how I made this layout.

I started by cutting some fun embellishments with my Cricut Explore and Graphic 45 papers.  I used the Floral Embellished cartridge for the designs.

I used my Tombow Dual brush pens to make watercolors on an acrylic block.

This is the technique I used, dipping a toothbrush into the color, then misting my doilies.  I also did some font writing using my Cricut to create the beauty sentiment, along with a Cricut pen in blue.  I added some Ranger Tropical Tangerine Stickles Glitter Glue as well.

What would we do without our crafty friends?  My good friend MariLynn made me some quilled flowers.  They're so tiny so I took my Tombow adhesive dots and cut them into four pieces to stick my pretty little flowers down.  It's a great way to use just a small piece, and extend your stash!

Here's a close-up of the butterfly that I cut with my Explore.  My layout background paper is Graphic 45  Time To Flourish and the butterfly is G45 Sweet Sentiments.

I've also added some pretty May Arts Ribbon.  Below, is the scalloped adhesive ribbon.  I also used the tiny floral bud adhesive ribbon, along with natural burlap string.

This definitely took some time to put together, particularly since my brain isn't functioning at full capacity by the days end, but I think I did okay.

Here are the challenges that I'm entering:

Additional supplies: Bo Bunny crochet flower, We R Memory Keepers Enamel Dots, Gold foil chevron washi tape from Hobby Lobby St. Patricks Day collection, 6" doilies from Hobby Lobby, Recollections mini enamel dots pastel, Tombow Mono adhesive Power Bond, Bic Metallic gel pen, Cricut, Prima Marketing Flower clip, foam squares
