Blooming Butterfly

 I found the most gorgeous butterfly stamp, with the most intricate webbing.  It is absolutely breathtaking.  When I saw this, at So Suzy Stamps, I knew it had to be mine.  I'll be entering this lovely creation into a couple challenges today, listed at the end of my post.

I started my project by heat embossing in several different colors, using a tiny spoon to dip out my powder and sprinkle where needed.  I did one color at a time, tapping off the excess, then heating all the colors at once.

I watercolored my background and the inner workings of the butterfly as well, using numerous inks, then used a stencil and white paint dabber for the corners of my project.  The sequins were placed with Stickles Glitter glue and I brushed some Wink of Stella in Clear all over my butterfly.

For the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from So Suzy Stamps by masking and stamping one word at a time, so I could then use this adorable cloud shaped die on each word.  I blended a little Powder Puff chalk ink around the edge of the clouds, to coordinate with the butterfly.

Halloween treats and tags w/Unity Stamps & Spellbinders Celebra'tions

Besides crafting, one of my favorite things to do is buy clearanced treat boxes and bags at Target, in particular, at 90% off, haha.  It's usually the seasonal ones that I go for.  I'd rather buy super cheap, pre-made boxes and devote more time to creating treats to go in and outside the box.

So, I snagged a set of these Halloween boxes last year for, oh, 39 cents!  And, this shiny white bag was from a Christmas sale last year.   I picked up several of those as well.  I thought it would be fun to stamp a fun Halloween image on the bag, but, I wasn't sure if ink would adhere to this material, so I decided to heat emboss, being very careful not to overheat and burn this thin material or cause excessive puckering.

 

I grabbed this cute witches hat from the Unity Stamp Halloween Chatter set and used Versamark clear ink, then sprinkled black embossing powder, tapping the excess through the material onto a scrap piece of blank sticker paper.  After putting the excess powder back in the jar, I put the paper back in the bag to keep the heat away from the other side of the bag.  I then added a thin strip of orange glitter adhesive tape to the hat.

The tags were made with the brand new Spellbinders SWEET TREATS matching stamp and die tag set.  Let me tell you, these stamps and tag dies are HUGE!  Spellbinders was kind enough to send me this set in the mail, after my guest blogger stint at the CHA Paper Arts show in Atlanta last month (thanks, Dave!)  Who can say that they received personal instruction from Richard Garay himself, the designer of this kit?  I can, that's who!  #grin 

 

I used everything you see below, embellishing with May Arts Ribbon twine and Freckled Fawn neon dots.  Those cute bats were also heat embossed, fussy cut and held in place with Glue Dots.  This stamp set is one of my fave from the Unity Stamp Co, Kooky Spooky and Batty set.  Have I told you how much I love Unity Stamps?  Well I do and if you could see my stash in my craft room, you would know!

Silhouette Wedding card

Here's a quick wedding card I made with the Unity Stamp kit Insightful Meadows by Donna Downey and sentiments from the LIVE LAUGH LAUGH kit by Samantha Walker.  I've got another wedding coming up and had in my mind exactly what I wanted to do: silhouette flowers embossed with black powder.  

Once I embossed the flowers, I stamped again for a shadow effect, just to the left in gray ink.  Let me tell you, I wanted to add ribbon and bling and more crafty stuff...I literally made myself stop.  You have no idea how HARD it was!  But I really tried to keep it simple and elegant and I think I succeeded, even if I had to talk myself down several times.  Ha!  

The pictures below show the inside also where I used die cut frames and most of the items used are also pictured.  This was a fun one to make, aside from cuffing my hands together to stop.....  #grin. Butterfly clouds card

Good morning to you on this sunny but cool spring morning.  I was up late last night, in a crafty mood, and made this cute butterfly card with heat embossed clouds.  I have a special friend in mind that I want to send it to as encouragement.  I used my new "favorite" stamp kit from the Unity Stamp Co called Blossom Soup, from the Jillibean line. The sentiment is from another kit called  All things are possible.   That's washi tape edging on the kraft card also, although I don't remember the brand.  So springy and sweet don't you think?
