Grinch Christmas card

If you're a fan of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, then you are well familiar with this quote, which Kaisercraft made into a wonderful Christmas stamp.  I'm breaking in this "Grinch" stamp called "Christmas Feeling" and also my new Tombow Dual brush pens, which by the way, I'm already in love with.  They color so smooth!  I free-handed the Santa hat and colored in with my Tombow green marker from the Bright pen set.  To stay inline with the Grinchy green theme, I colored the white glitter ribbon on the Santa hat as well as the snowflakes, which are from the Unity Stamp "Like a Snowflake" sentiment kit.  Then, a touch of Wink of Stella glitter pen in Clear on those snowflakes as well.  The mini pom pom on my Santa Grinch hat is from May Arts Ribbon, my absolute favorite ribbon maker!  I stamped the inside of my card with a Christmas sentiment in Powder Puff green ink and then guess what?  Yup, the ink fell in my lap.  Crafter's Essentials wipes to the rescue!  Not only did they clean up my inky stamps perfectly, but they cleaned up my legs as well.  #grin

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful Holiday season!

Snowflake Shaker card

It's Friday again!  Whoop!  Luckily I was able to work in some crafty time last night, so I whipped up this sweet snowflake shaker card using the new Unity Stamp Co sentiment kit, "Like a Snowflake".  (Oh my goodness, I love this kit!  It's on sale right now.  Go get one!)  I stamped the white card all over with different sized snowflakes with Memento London Fog ink, utilizing the generation stamping technique of multiple stamps with just one inking.

The gorgeous clear, charcoal and red sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and the Black chevron twill ribbon and white "snowball" ribbon is from May Arts Ribbon.  Everything is held together with my Tombow Xtreme adhesive runner.  If you look closely, you'll see that I did some paper piercing using my Stamper's Secret Weapon.  You can't tell from the photo, but I used Wink of Stella clear glitter ink over every single snowflake.  It's so pretty in person!  I'll be entering this card into the Unity Friends with Flair challenge today as well as their monthly Be Inspired Challenge
Have a great weekend!

Cat tails grass

Here's another set of cards I've made using a watercolor technique with distress markers.  The base cardstock is from the #Kaisercraft Heirloom collection and blended perfectly with my theme.  I used a Darice embossing folder with my Cuttlebug and May Arts chevron twill ribbon, capped off with a Prima Marketing sugar dot.

Additional supplies: Tim Holtz distress ink Brushed Cordoruy and Tumbled Glass, Pentel brown paint ink brush, Tombow Xtreme adhesive runner, The Paper Studio 5x7 white card

Bunches of Wheat

This past summer, I attended the Scrapbook Expo in Duluth, GA, where I fell in love with this wheat flower stamp from Jenny Bowlin Studios.  I was lucky enough to hang out with Jenny and her family for a bit.  They are really sweet folks.  At one point, the power went out in the entire building,  so I pulled out my cellphone flashlight app so Jenny's hubby could finish the transaction.
That was a fun day!

I made this set of cards featuring the Jenny Bowlin wheat flower stamp.   This set is simple, but elegant.  In addition, I've used Queen and Company polka dot washi tape, Tim Holtz distress ink in Brushed Corduroy, May Arts Ribbon natural jute and Prima Marketing enamel dots.  The sentiment is from the Unity Stamp Co Jillibean Soup set "Blossom Soup".

Winter Forest Red

It's Friday again and I'm pulling a late nighter.  The kid is in bed asleep so here I sit with a mug of cocoa and working on a last minute entry for the Unity Friends with Flair challenge.   So without further ado, here's my card, stamped and colored for the first time using the Unity Winter Forest stamp.  Isn't it a beauty?  I glittered up my white forest with DecoArt Glamour Dust in Crystal.  Gorgeous!  Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Additional Supplies:  DCWV burlap stack, Bic markit red fine point pen, recollections white ink, doily, scrap paper, white gel pen, mistletoe cardstock sticker, Tombow xtreme runner pop dots

Watercolor Christmas Sky

My life has been crazy hectic lately.  Last night, I finally had some "me" time and sat down to do a little painting. I've actually used 2 different stamp sets here.  I masked the yellow star from the Twinkle Twinkle Unity set and the sentiment is from The First Noel SVG kit.

I also added some twinkling glitter stars which really don't show up well in the first picture.  Wish I had a camera that made my glitter twinkle when I snap the picture!  I used my Twinkling H20's to paint the sky, and distress markers and ink for the sentiment.  Simon Says Stamp is having a challenge that also involves the use of stars.  I plan on entering my project into that challenge as well as the Unity Friends with Flair challenge.

Blog hop featuring Tombow & Unity Stamps + a giveaway!

We're having a fun blog hop at Mountain Plains Crafters and combining creations made with two great companies, Unity Stamps and Tombow Adhesives.  The theme?  Giving thanks.  For my project, I've made a decorative pillow box for my Thanksgiving table, to be filled with a special treat.

The paper I'm using was hand painted from the DecoArt booth at the #CHA 2014 Paper Arts show. I picked out the orange and gold colors and the artist, Alison Craig, performed a Gelli plate demonstration. Fun! So, with Thanksgiving colors in mind, I thought it would be perfect to use today.
I've decided to go old school and share a printed template that was on the inside of my Graphic 45 paper pad.  G45 has graciously allowed me to share this template with you.  I cut it out and used it to model more templates.  You are welcome to enlarge and print it out.   I'll share the dimensions at the end of this post.   :)

The products I'm using today are the Unity background stamp, "Grainy background", and the leaf and sentiment are from a set called "{leafing} Grateful".  I have been an avid fan of Unity Stamps for years and have more than I care to count!  They are the absolute best quality and give me a clear, crisp image every single time.

I'm also using the Tombow Mono Aqua liquid glue.  It has a fine tip on top and a wide tip on the bottom.  It's my go-to glue!  Love it.  Also, I'm using the Xtreme adhesive runner.  This bad boy sticks to just about anything; wood, metal, fabric....you name it.  Once it sticks, it's stuck for good!

I've penciled and drawn arrows where
I want to score my cardstock template.
and hand drawn the score.  No fancy score
                                                                           board needed!
Here, I've stamped my image and used my
mini blending tool to blend in more color.

I've glued my leaves and sentiment to the grainy frame and folded my frame so it's half on the front and half on the back, glued with the Xtreme runner.  Just a drop of the Aqua mono glue, to make sure my jute twine and enamel dot stay secure.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This link will take you back to the hop or head on over to Sheryl's link.  And don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway on the MPC link!

Wedding/Anniversary gift box

I recently received some products from DecoArt to test and decided to try out the Paper Effects paint and Glamour Dust to make this pretty gift box.   It's just the right size for a small gift such as an ornament or decorative plate, or plenty of room for a gift card and note.  And what a lovely keepsake as well!

The accompanying DecoArt fine-point tips are a definite must for this delicate work.

I worked in sections, painting and then sprinkling glitter as this is a quick drying, non-tacky paint.

Look at the close-up, the way it sparkles.  I love it!  It's simply gorgeous in person.

I wanted to keep my box simple, to show that anyone can do this.  I used some old craft lace and tacked it with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive  , then added May Arts Wired String with Raffia Bows, 0.625-Inch by 50-Yard, Pink and placed random Glue Dots Mini Roll in places for the raffia bows.

You can find all the supplies mentioned above at your local craft store.  Don't have the tools to do embossing?  Find a crafty friend who does or better yet....dive in and give it a whirl.
It's easy and fun!

Birthday card trio, upcoming blog hop and a giveaway!

I'm working on a custom order of all occasion cards and wanted to show you this sweet trio using the Unity Stamp kit, Birthday Jubilee. I adore this versatile set and was lucky enough to score it on a super sale not long ago. This set actually didn't take long at all to put together.

I used my Tim Holtz distress markers and did some water coloring on the lettering and balloons and added some Ranger glossy accents to the balloons as well. I wanted to have all the cards alike, with a pop of different colors on each card.
As you can see, the buttons match the balloons!

We've got an upcoming blog hop and giveway at Mountain Plains Crafters on Nov. 13-14 so be sure and check in. We'll be featuring Unity Stamps and Tombow Adhesives and there's a fabulous prize up for grabs! See you then......

Additional supplies:  May Arts Ribbon jute, mini Glue Dots, washi tape from Target
