Challenge #30 - Use a Monster or Robot

For this Skittles challenge, I wanted to pair R2D2, the fabulous and charming robot from Star Wars, with a sentiment from a stamp kit that I needed to break in.  I've used my Cricut Explore, once again, and uploaded a jpeg image of R2D2 into the online Design Space for the Explore.  I LOVE this feature!  My printer, prints the image with L-shaped markers, then I load my printed image onto a mat and the Explore scans the markers and perfectly cuts the outline of my image.  It's fabulous!

I had this really terrific starry night sky paper that was the perfect backdrop, along with some buttons that were also "out of this world".  I stamped my sentiment on vellum and added some twine, then scattered my Yellow Sunshine and Sailboat Blue Skittles across the sky and placed some Slate Skittles below my sentiment.

I love how this fun card turned out and my Skittles look fabulous, don't you think?  They are so much fun to play with and add such character and playfulness to your craft projects.  Grab some today!

For this challenge I decided to go with Monster.  I had the perfect Fancy Pants Design papers and a digital image that I hadn't used yet.

The Skittles that I'm using are Citrus and Believe in Magic.  You know how sometimes you have a little accident while crafting?  Yup, I had a bit of a smudge with my liquid pearls.  What's a girl to do?  Cover it up with a Skittle!  I popped that Citrus Skittle on top of that green smudged mess and covered it up perfectly.  I liked the look so much, I decided to plop one down on the other side too.  I love how Skittles magnifies whatever is underneath it.  In this case, the Citrus Skittles, which are a pale green, were further enhanced by the green liquid pearls.  Bonus!

Let me tell you, I really jazzed up this Party Monster.  I used my Cricut Explore's Print and Cut feature which I love, because you don't have to worry about assembling a bunch of tiny die cut pieces with an svg file.  This monster was green all over so I added some spots of brown and white.  Isn't he adorable?

Christmas Log Cabin with Jenn Shurkus

I chose one of Jenn's cards from December 2008.  The story sold me.  

I love the story behind her card.  I used similar colors and a similar layout to her original card below.

Jenn Shurkus Log Cabin

I didn't have any small cabin stamps or houses that were suitable, so I chose this larger house from an Avocado Arts set called Gingerbread Goodness.  Yes, it's really the base for a Gingerbread House!

I started with
We R Memory Keepers - Shine Collection - 12 x 12 Paper Pad - $9.34

 I trimmed and scored a 5"x5.75" card and a coordinating piece of trim from the Shine pad, using my WRMK trimmer/scorer.  The house was colored on white American Crafts cardstock with Tombow Dual brush pens.  Ranger Glossy Accents and Doodlebug Designs Glitter make the roof sparkle and lots of Rangers Stickles glitter glue for little twinkling lights and also for the door and snow.

I used a Marvy Snow Marker for the snow and then once it was heated and puffed up, painted it with Ranger Picket Fence dabber and covered with Stickles White Lace glitter glue.  May Arts Ribbon red/white 2mm bakers twine finishes off this sweet card.

Coffee And Patriotism - A Nice Blend!

I hope you've had the opportunity to link up to some super fun blog hops this week.  This is my 3rd and final creation for the Coffee Lover's Cardmakers Summer Blog Hop.

I wanted to do something along the lines of recognizing those men and women in our lives who have served our country and help to protect our freedoms.  My dad is a military man.  He served in the Navy and retired from the Army.  And boy, does he love his coffee.  This is a thank you card  with a coffee/patriotic focus.  Yes, coffee and patriotism do go hand in hand!  Ask any Drill Sargent  (like my dad), what started his day at 4:00 am, rousing the troops and he'll tell you....coffee! 

 I chose to do some background stamping with a wonderful stamp set from the Unity Stamp Company, one of the sponsors of this hop.  This set is called Thanks Above and Beyond and is the April 2015 Sentiment Kit of the Month.

To begin, I stamped my background with Hero Arts Neon Red ink, and added some stars from another Unity set, Splatters & Stars, doing some generational stamping.

I've embellished with a DCWV mat stack, May Arts Ribbon red/white twine, American Crafts glitter adhesive strip, an upcycled coffee sleeve with a star punched out and a fused pocket that's hidden behind the sleeve.  

I actually made this fused pocket at a crop event a few months ago and have been waiting on the perfect occasion to use it.  It contains extra fine glitter in red, white and blue.  I've added some Doubleclick Skittles at the bottom of my cup, in Sailboat Blue.  Look close and you'll see that the Skittles magnify the tiny stars.  How cool!  These are handmade in individual batches and come in a boatload of colors. I'm kind of partial to them.  You can buy these here:

Watercolor Christmas Sky

 My life has been crazy hectic lately.  Last night, I finally had some "me" time and sat down to do a little painting. I've actually used 2 different stamp sets here.  I masked the yellow star from the Twinkle Twinkle Unity set and the sentiment is from The First Noel SVG kit.

I also added some twinkling glitter stars which really don't show up well in the first picture.  Wish I had a camera that made my glitter twinkle when I snap the picture!  I used my Twinkling H20's to paint the sky, and distress markers and ink for the sentiment.  Simon Says Stamp is having a challenge that also involves the use of stars.  I plan on entering my project into that challenge as well as the Unity Friends with Flair challenge.

Fathers day stars

Here's one last Fathers day card for the week.  This one goes to hubby from the kid.  Not too elaborate.  Why?  Because he couldn't care less, ha!  This is pretty simple with some Cuttlebug embossing and sanding for a little distressed look.  A few cardstock stickers, twine...not too fancy.  And a stamped image on the inside from Unity Stamps "All about dad" set.

Twinkle little star baby card

First of all,  can I say I'm lovin' baseball season 'cause Dad takes the boy to practice and I've been getting all kinds of crafting done.   WOOP! 

So I tried out a new stamp called Twinkle Twinkle, from Unity Stamps.  It's always good to have a baby card on hand and I'm slap out,  so I went to work.   I actually used some scraps for the base layers of paper.  The frame is from We R memory keepers and fit right in.  I cut super thin strips  of gold adhesive glitter ribbon for the stringing stars, then colored the stars and added some yellow Stickles glitter glue.   The tag was made with manuscript paper and the musical notes are from another Unity kit called Sing a New Song.   I added some Basic Grey candy buttons,  Stampin Up pearls, a doily and ribbon. ...and called it a day.

Joyful tidings card

Here's another card I made with a sentiment from the Unity stamp Co.
It was pretty simple to make,  starting with
a kraft card,  layering some designer paper and embellishing with ribbon and glittery stars.
 
I stamped the verse on cream colored cardstock and did a little watercolor on the paper and raised it over a 4x4'' doily with pop dots.   Speaking of the doily,  I edged it with beige Colorbox ink and added some yellow Stickles glitter glue.

A joyful and sweet Christmas card!

The Magic of Christmas card

Here's another card I made with ''His Presence'' stamp from the Unity Stamp Co.  and Erin Schreiner.   I love this sentiment because it has so much meaning.   I used some washi tape and adhesive glitter ribbon too.   Baby Jesus is a sticker that I adhered to white cardstock and then cut around the edges,  and raised it with a pop dot.   I fussy cut the frame from cardstock that I ran through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.   Some ink,  burlap twine and blue gemstones were added and a 2-piece star at the top for the finishing touches.   Pretty!
