Banana Split Watercolor for TPD Stamps

The new release is in full swing at Two Paper Divas Stamps and today, I'm featuring "Banana Split".  This yummy concoction is perfect for birthdays, just because or a romantic gesture for your significant other.  I've paired a sentiment from the "Sail Away" stamp set, but TPD has a number of stamp sets that pair nicely with Banana Split, such as "Here's the Scoop", the new release "Junk Food Alley" or "You Make Life Sweet".

I took some liberties with my water colored image, adding hot fudge without the sprinkles, as pictured in the graphic at the end of my post.  Here's a close-up.

I also added Stickles Glitter Glue in Frosted Lace for my whipped cream, and outlined the edge of my fudge with a Kaisercraft glitter pen, for a little added definition.   This looks good enough to eat!  And, zero calories!

I used my Tim Holtz waterbrush to do most of the coloring with my Tombow dual brush markers, although, I didn't have the right shade of red for my cherries, so I used a Carmine Red Zig clean color brush.  I added some white from a gel pen, then blotted with water from my Tim Holtz waterbrush, to get the highlight on the cherries.

To finish, I added polka dots with my waterbrush and ink from my Tombow (swiped on an acrylic block) that match the colors of my Banana Split boat.  Perfection!  This is a nice sized stamp at just over 3" and is great for coloring.  The dimension was perfect for my large, 6"x6" card.

New Release at TPD Stamps Day 2 + Sale

It's day 2 of the August release at Two Paper Divas Stamps and today I'm sharing a card that features, "Anchors The Soul".  I make a lot of sympathy and encouragement cards as a ministry of our church and I am so happy to own this new stamp set, particularly as the sentiment that I'm using is a line from a favorite song, not to mention that there is so much truth in that statement.  Grab this and any of the other new release stamp sets, discounted at 20% off today only.

I have already mailed this card and in spite of the difficult health news that one of our members received recently, I hope this will cheer him up.  If you are a believer in the power of prayer, I'm sure Robert would appreciate you lifting him up.

As for the details on this card, my anchor image was colored with Zig clean color brushes and the papers that I'm using today are from the DCWV Hey Sailor collection, as well as DCWV Bella Armoire.  I've also embellished with metallic gold ribbon trim and DoubleClick Skittles bubble embellishments.

New release at TPD Stamps Day 1 + Sale

It's August, already, can you believe it?  And, time for the newest release from Two Paper Divas Stamps.  This month, TPD is releasing 10 new stamps and/or sets that run the gamut from birthdays, to Halloween, to encouragement and more.  Be sure and tune in today and tomorrow for the big reveal of all the sets.  Some will sell out quickly so if you see one that you must have, don't wait.  Plus, for those 2 days, the new stamp sets will be discounted by 20%.  Sweet!  Speaking of sweet.....

My project today features a Firecracker Treat Box and a tag that I colored using the "Make A Wish 2" stamp.  I made the treat box from a template that was included in the DCWV Confetti 12x12 stack and the tag was also part of the paper stack.  When I saw that tag, I knew it was perfect for this stamp.  My candles look like they're sitting on top of a confetti cake!

Isn't it the cutest?  The final touches on my tag include coloring my candles with Kaisercraft gel and glitter pens and tying both ends of my treat box with sparkly silver curling ribbon.

Now, you know I love sharing quick tips so here's your tip of the day...

BONUS TIP: Coloring Stamped images- For crisp, clean results, stamp your image with black archival ink.  To avoid smears and smudges with the ink, allow ink to completely dry or use a heat embossing tool to quickly "set" your archival ink.  Proceed to color.

Purchase Make A Wish 2, here.

Thankful Shaker Card With TPD Stamps

Have I got a fun project for you today!  I'm back with another spotlight on Two Paper Divas Stamps with a fun, mini shaker card.  I had such a blast making this, seriously, I did.  Plus, I love that it showcases another way of using the Journal It!1 stamp set with that little word, "thankful".   It's been a super hot and muggy summer, here in the South, and I am begging Fall to hurry up and get here.  With that being said, I definitely had Autumn on my mind when I made this.

The easiest way for me to stamp multiples of a word is to lay down a strip of washi tape so everything lines up easily.   I prefer washi tape because it's easily removable and I have a pretty good stash, but you can use any kind of removable tape.  I stamped one line at a time, then dropped my washi tape down another line and repeated the process until I had enough stamped words to cut a
3" x 3" square.  I simply eyeballed how far I needed to drop down my tape but if you prefer to measure, it's approximately 3/4".

Before cutting my square, I wanted to go ahead and color my words using my Kaisercraft gel and glitter pens.  I snagged these recently and LOVE them.  The pens have a super fine tip and were perfect for this project.  I chose 3 Fall-ish colors to fit in with my Thanksgiving theme.  Let me tell you, those glitter pens really make my stamped words sparkle.

When I finished, I cut a 3"x3" square using my Cuttlebug and my Spellbinders Celebrations pierced square dies, at an angle.  Scroll to the bottom for a full supply list for all the items that I used.

I think these mini shakers would make a fun little place card at the Thanksgiving table, don't you?  You could even add a little tag with each family members name.  Festive and fun!  Stretch your journaling stamps and give this a try.  Stop back by this weekend; the new August stamps will be released at Two Paper Divas on 8/5 and 8/6 and there will be lots of fabulous samples from the design team.

Coloring Multiple Cards With TPD Stamps

Do you ever create cards in multiples?  I'm doing this increasingly more and more, particularly as I find it quicker and easier to stamp several cards and quickly color them, whether it be to have extras on hand for various occasions, for custom orders or gift giving.  I knocked out this 5 card set in less than 30 minutes, including stamping the inside and stamping the back with my personal logo.  Truth be told, it was probably closer to 20 minutes because  when I get in the zone, things come together quickly!

This project features a sentiment from the new release "Stuck on You" from Two Paper Divas Stamps, and "Tulip Bucket", from their May release.  I love that the sentiment will go with so many of my TPD images.  Each set of tulips has a different color, using my Tombow dual brush markers.  The flowers were watercolored, however the bucket was directly colored with the additional use of my Tombow blender brush.

I know I've probably mentioned it a bazillion times but you never know who's seeing this for the first time.... to quickly and easily watercolor with Tombows or any water based marker, swipe your marker across an acrylic block or craft mat and spritz with a tiny bit of water.  Use a small paintbrush to transfer your color onto your image or use a water brush.  I use the Tim Holtz detailed NIB water brush to transfer my color.  It's quick and easy and you can vary your color intensity by not spritzing your swiped marker color, but just picking up the direct color with your waterbrush.

To finish off my flowers, I added Stickles glitter glue for some pretty sparkle and a white gel pen for added dimension.

Coloring Summer Note Cards With TPD Stamps

Can I just say how much I love this new stamp set from Two Paper Divas Stamps?  It's called, "Stuck on You" and is one of the fun, new stamp sets in the July release.

Make a set of colored note cards, and have them on hand when you want to quickly drop a note to a friend.  This card was so quick and easy to color.  Switch out the sentiments and make a bunch or give some as gift sets to friends.

You don't even need to use an ink pad for this project.  Swipe your black marker across your stamp instead, then stamp on your cardstock, starting in the center and space out additional images on each side.  I simply eyeball it.  I used a strip of washi tape across the bottom to line up the bottom edge of the pottery though, so my images would all stamp evenly.   A quick tip for getting varied shades on the leaves?  Swipe your marker down once on your leaf, leaving a little white space along one side.  Color in with a lighter shade.  I love to use the fine tip of my Tombow Dual brush markers to just add another thin line of dark shade along just one edge of each leaf.  When I finished coloring, I swiped the blender brush down each leaf to blend more light.

Use a plain colored brown pencil or watercolor pencil and shade a little around the bottom of the pottery for added definition and a little eye pleasing pop.  A white gel pen adds some additional embellishment, and turns this into more of an aloe or snake plant, don't you think.  I'd like to say I have a green thumb but the closest I come to keeping plants alive is on paper!

Craft Lightning - Emergency Camping Snack Kit - Family Crafts in 15 Minutes!

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links)
I'm thrilled to be joining a fun group of crafty bloggers for Craft Lightning, an event held several times a year that promotes family friendly craft projects that can be done in 15 minutes or less.   From July 17-21, you can find daily projects that are quick and easy.

The theme for this event is "Scout Crafts" and I've got a quick project for you today that won't leave you hungry on your next camping trip; an Emergency Camping Snack Kit.

Grab these ingredients:

- one 12x12 sheet designer paper (Maggie Holmes Bloom woodgrain)
-lightweight paper or Press n Seal plastic wrap
-snacks such as beef jerky, gummy worms, Raisinets, and sunflower seeds

1.  Cut a 12" x 5" strip of designer paper.

2. Run adhesive around all edges of the backside of your paper, and leave four 3" squares.
Make sure your adhesive goes all the way to the edges, so that you have at least
1/2"-3/4" adhered coverage on all sides and between snack sections.

Shop Your Fav Brands at Scrapbook.com

3.  Place your snacks in the middle of each section.

4.  Cut a 12" x 6" piece of lightweight paper or Press n Seal plastic
wrap and lay on top of your snacks.  Starting with the middle section,
press your top layer down and rub into your adhesive.
Do this for each section and all edges.

5.  Trim any excess paper/plastic from edges.

6. Cut a small slit on the lower edges of each "pouch", on the adhesive line.
This allows for easy tearing later.

7.  Trim a few pieces of decorative paper or card stock and label each snack.
Be creative and name them something fun, if you like.
"Bark" for beef jerky, "worms" for gummy worms, "Bugs" for Raisinets
and "Bird Seed for sunflower seeds.
Add adhesive and stick onto the front of your snack section.
