Elegant Swan Card for Erin Lee Creative

Hello friends, I'm back with another project for Erin Lee Creative, featuring products from the Birds of a Feather release. The swan symbolizes love, purity and grace and I wanted to create a clean and graceful look. I think I was successful, what do you think? Scroll down for creative details. I'll have a clickable supply list at the end, as well.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Let's start with my die cut, using the new Jumbo Vintage Rose Die. I cut this rose image with my Platinum 6 die cut machine, using two different colors of pink cardstock.

Instead of gluing, I opted to use a trimmed piece of an adhesive sheet to piece my die cuts together. I pulled off the liner and adhered the dark pink outline rose die cut, discarding the inner die cut pieces.

Next, I added the inner pieces from the light pink die cuts to my rose. When done, I simply trimmed off the excess adhesive sheet, going all around my rose with scissors, trimming just under the outside edge of the rose.

I absolutely love the beauty of the new Elegant Swan Die. Since I'm going for a clean look for this card, I wanted to create a shadow for my swan, so it didn't blend in too much with all the white space.

I die cut my swan in black and adhered it slightly offset to the back of my white swan die cut. I didn't have the right color of cardstock that I wanted for the beek, so I swiped some color onto some scrap white cardstock with my OLO Marker OR4.4, Rosy Bonnet, and then die cut over that coloring.

My sentiment is from the new Take Care Stamp Set with Coordinating Dies. There are 10 sentiments in this die set and each one has it's own outline die. Those are some of the details that I love about Erin's products!

All of my elements are popped up with adhesive foam. I also glued some clear drop embellishments and added some black spatters using my Dylusions Black Magic Shimmer Spray. I simply unscrewed the bottle and tapped the feeder tube around my card. I generally let this dry naturally, it doesn't take long. It was such a pleasure making this card and I hope you like it!

If you purchase any of the Erin Lee products through my affiliate links, you should get a 10% discount at checkout. There is no additional cost to you, to shop through my affiliate links. I appreciate it so much when you use them!

Have a fabulous day!

Terri

Rose Bloom Reflection

This is one of two projects that I'm sharing today.  I've had a vision of trying to capture a reflection of a flower on water or perhaps, a mirror.  I captured this the best way I know how, using the Mirror Image stamp from So Suzy Stamps, along with the Rose Bloom stamp, So Suzy Ink Bites and the Audrey Hepburn sentiment.  Scroll down for some photos that capture the process.

The design team from So Suzy Stamps has a themed/technique challenge for March; Spring Flowers/Stenciling.

I want to focus on how to achieve that reflection.   Take note of how I placed my Rose Bloom on the rubber mirror image stamp, for the reflection.  Upside down and at an angle on the lower left side of the mirror image stamp.  It doesn't really matter where you place the flower stamp on the rubber, but if I don't put it in writing, I myself will forget how to pull this off!  Haha.

After using your Misti to position everything, lower the lid of your Misti onto the cling side of your stamp and ink your ONLY THE UPPER HALF of the flower image.  Because this is a reflection, in my mind, the entire stamp should not be inked.  Plus, I tried it with the full image and it just didn't look right.

Press the inked stamp down onto the rubber Mirror image stamp.  Do this a total of 3 times for a good impression.  Use a misting water bottle to lightly mist your stamp on the 3rd inking and/or mist your watercolor paper before pressing into your inked image.

When you flip your paper over, your reflective image will be on the right side of your paper.  In addition to the pink ink that I used from Suzy's Coastal Breeze ink bites collection, I also used Ranger Abandoned Coral for the darker tone.  It worked better than a dye ink for the subtle blending with my waterbrush, and also blended well on the full Rose Bloom image, which was done with
no-line watercoloring.  No-line watercoloring is achieved by using a very pale ink to stamp with, preferably in the same tone as the central color to be used.  In this case, the pink Ink Bite.  Note the position of the full Rose Bloom in my first photo.

Once I finished coloring my images, I stenciled my background, added some gray shading with gray pigment ink and darker shading around the reflection, along with glossy accents on my reflection.  Metal brads and iridescent white thread accent my card as well.

Let's not forget the sentiment.  It's the Audrey Hepburn quote and I masked a portion to stamp on the outside, with the remainder stamped on the inside.

Floral Blessings with Adornit Art Play Paintables

FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links)

Happy Friday, friends!  It's always a happy day around here when Friday comes rolling around and I thought it fitting to share a happy card, created with some brand new products from Adornit.  I know you're probably seeing a lot of Halloween and Fall creations these days, however, October also brings a lot of pink colors to the forefront, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.  I've shared my story in the past, as my mom and sister are both survivors, thankfully.  We've participated in various local events that support BCA and I'm always happy to do so.

I've colored up one of the new images from the Adornit Art Play collection, titled, "Blessings". The Blessings collection was designed by owner and artist/designer, Carolee McMullin and includes 10 different images.  Do you love pineapples?  How about owls?  Miss Carolee has got you covered, haha!  This image is the perfect size for creating your own bookmark but I thought I would pair nicely with these brand new Adornit scrapbook papers, designed by Laura Kelly, called Hot Pink Dots.  It's double sided so I'm showcasing both sides which were the perfect colors to accent my colored image.  I've also embellished with Adornit's green polka dot ribbon trim.

These products are so new, they're currently making their way to independent scrapbook/craft stores across the country.  If you can't find these products in your local scrapbook store, ask them to carry Adornit products.  They are so fun!  You won't find Adornit in the big box hobby stores but they will be available soon at adornit.com and you can also find Adornit products at scrapbook.com.  So keep checking back.  I love that these images are classic and timeless.  They never go out of style.

These watercolor paper images take most any medium; colored pencils, paint, watercolors, markers.... I'm using the Tombow dual brush markers on my project today, with a white gel pen, and my waterbrush to distribute some of the color.

Check out the current selection of Adornit Art Play Paintables, here.

WRMK Photo Fuse - Free-styling it with a Heart Shaped Shaker!

Earlier this week, I blogged about my first test use (here) with the We R Memory Keepers Photo Fuse.    Today's post is a continuation of that.  Today, I will be fusing a pocket as well, but instead of fusing my stamped image and sequins all at once, this time I'm creating a pocket only for the sequins, and free-handing a fused heart shape.

Scroll down, because it's going to get fun! (As of this writing, this tool is still on back-order and hard to find!)

The first thing I did, was draw a heart, free-handed, with a marker on a page protector.
After the fusing process, I left a gap to fill with sequins, which I will finish fusing after
I've filled my pocket.

I used the WRMK Inked Rose cardstock for this project today.  I also used my trimmed, fused pocket as a template for drawing my heart on the polka dot cardstock.  It doesn't have to be perfect, because all the edges won't show once I place my panel later on.

I did a stamp test on the back of my heart so I could get an idea of where the image needed to be placed.  I adhered my pocket to the stamped cardstock by running adhesive on about 3 corners.  The outline of the smaller heart?  That's about the size I'll be cutting from my rose panel, approximately 1/2" smaller than my heart pocket.  I'll be using a craft knife for the smaller heart.

Here you can see where I cut the smaller heart, again free-handed.  I have a tendency to eyeball and cut freestyle, but you could use a 3" heart punch or your die-cutting machine to cut out a 3" heart centered on a 6"x6" piece of cardstock.  I did save the smaller cut-out heart from the rose panel, to use on the inside of my card as an embellishment, then added a smaller heart to which I stamped another sentiment and blended with some ink.

Alas, the lighting isn't the best on these photos, as I was at an all day crop event when I made them.

I wish I could say that the WRMK Fuse is mine, but I borrowed it from a friend for testing.  It's definitely on my wishlist!

Here's my final photo, a close up of the heart pocket.  Yes, I was a little overly happy, pouring those sequins in, but isn't it colorful and pretty?  The stamped sentiments are from So Suzy Stamps and the Prima Marketing Flowers have been enhanced with some Frosted Lace Stickles.  That's it for now.  Maybe I should gift myself a Fuse for Easter?

Additional supplies: Tombow Mono Aqua Glue, Tombow power bond adhesive runner, sequins from Hobby Lobby, scrap lace, May Arts Ribbon satin white ribbon, Close To My Heart black archival ink

Growing in Unity- Day 5

Welcome to day 5 of my stint as the GIU (Growing in Unity) girl.  I'm showing you my creations all week long and if you comment every day on my blog post, you'll be entered into a random drawing for 25 random stamps from the Unity Stamp Company.  Wowza, 25 stamps!
Who wouldn't love that?!  2 winners will be selected.

For this creation, I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit.  Working with mixed media pastes is not my thing.  I decided to do some water coloring and used some glitter paste for the first time.  The stamp set used here, is from the Layers of Life May 2014 kit, "Never lose their Beauty".

I started out doing some water coloring with distress ink, first stamping my image on water color paper, then adding additional color.  I also used the Unity background stamp, "Tattered Chicken Wire".

Having zero experience working with paste, I found this video from the Scrapbook Expo and Bo Bunny, maker of the paste I'm using today, Copper Glitter Paste.  This technique worked great!  I used a Mod Podge Peel and Stick stencil with the paste.

Here's a close-up of the Unity sentiment.
I also added some Bo Bunny pearlescent to my mixed media project and clear Wink Of Stella glitter brush on my flowers and sentiment.  Lastly, I made a burlap string butterfly from May Arts Ribbon string.  I love how this turned out.  I'll definitely be doing more of these type projects in the future.

Thanks so much for letting me share my love of Unity Stamps with you this week.  Don't forget to leave a comment here so you can qualify for the random drawing.  And for a shameless plug, I'd love if you would come and like me on FB: http://www.facebook.com/wavingmywand because when I get to 500 likes, I'm having a big giveaway!
