Easter Wishes Featuring Echo Park Paper

Hello friends, I'm eagerly awaiting warmer weather and getting a jump start on Spring and Easter cards.  Today's project features new stamps and papers from Echo Park Paper, called Easter Wishes.  The paper collection has so many gorgeous plaids and ginghams, I had to have it.  I will most likely order more because I'm crazy for plaid!

The stamp set has so many wonderful critter and floral images and coordinating sentiments as well.  They all mix and match and are so cute and clever!    They're also in stock right now at Scrapbook.com.  Hurry though, because these cuties will sell out quick!

I pulled an inked cloudy background that I had colored previously, from my stash.   I created the clouds simply by inking distress ink across a torn paper edge and staggered the clouds.  So easy!  My chicks were colored with Zig clean color brushes and I did some embellishing with a Signo white gel pen.  It's my absolute favorite gel pen!  I won't use any other brand.

You'll find links to all the products that I used below.  If you have any questions, leave me a comment and I'd be happy to answer them!  Oh, one quick thing before I go.  I did use a mirror image technique for the chick.  It's a section of rubber that fits in your stamp positioner.  You ink your stamp and then impress onto the rubber, at least 2-3 times, then apply paper to the inked image and rub the back of paper gently until applied.  It's a fun technique!

I have a quick one minute video to show the mirror image process.  You'll also find product links below and in the video description.

The white crochet ribbon that I used is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and you can find that here.

Here is the link to the one minute video.  When viewing, I hope you will click the red button on the screen and subscribe to my YouTube channel.  Don't forget to "like"  the video by giving a thumbs up too!  I appreciate it so much!

Rose Bloom Reflection

This is one of two projects that I'm sharing today.  I've had a vision of trying to capture a reflection of a flower on water or perhaps, a mirror.  I captured this the best way I know how, using the Mirror Image stamp from So Suzy Stamps, along with the Rose Bloom stamp, So Suzy Ink Bites and the Audrey Hepburn sentiment.  Scroll down for some photos that capture the process.

The design team from So Suzy Stamps has a themed/technique challenge for March; Spring Flowers/Stenciling.

I want to focus on how to achieve that reflection.   Take note of how I placed my Rose Bloom on the rubber mirror image stamp, for the reflection.  Upside down and at an angle on the lower left side of the mirror image stamp.  It doesn't really matter where you place the flower stamp on the rubber, but if I don't put it in writing, I myself will forget how to pull this off!  Haha.

After using your Misti to position everything, lower the lid of your Misti onto the cling side of your stamp and ink your ONLY THE UPPER HALF of the flower image.  Because this is a reflection, in my mind, the entire stamp should not be inked.  Plus, I tried it with the full image and it just didn't look right.

Press the inked stamp down onto the rubber Mirror image stamp.  Do this a total of 3 times for a good impression.  Use a misting water bottle to lightly mist your stamp on the 3rd inking and/or mist your watercolor paper before pressing into your inked image.

When you flip your paper over, your reflective image will be on the right side of your paper.  In addition to the pink ink that I used from Suzy's Coastal Breeze ink bites collection, I also used Ranger Abandoned Coral for the darker tone.  It worked better than a dye ink for the subtle blending with my waterbrush, and also blended well on the full Rose Bloom image, which was done with
no-line watercoloring.  No-line watercoloring is achieved by using a very pale ink to stamp with, preferably in the same tone as the central color to be used.  In this case, the pink Ink Bite.  Note the position of the full Rose Bloom in my first photo.

Once I finished coloring my images, I stenciled my background, added some gray shading with gray pigment ink and darker shading around the reflection, along with glossy accents on my reflection.  Metal brads and iridescent white thread accent my card as well.

Let's not forget the sentiment.  It's the Audrey Hepburn quote and I masked a portion to stamp on the outside, with the remainder stamped on the inside.

Mirror Image Event Joint Blog with My Sweet Petunia, So Suzy Stamps and The Ton

It's day seven of the Mirror Image event, hosted by So Suzy Stamps.  I'm so happy to be sharing my take on mirror stamping, featuring the Rose Bloom, So Suzy Ink Bites and the Thoughts and Prayers sentiment.  Although sympathy cards are not always a cardmakers favorite thing to do, due to sad circumstances, I do make quite a few as a church ministry outreach.  I know you'll be seeing lots of creative ways to use the Mirror Image Stamp, so here's yet another way.

Be sure you are commenting on the featured project every day, (to be entered into the drawing for prizes) which will be added daily to this blog post, here, plus, take a look at the short video at the end of that post that shows you how to use the mirror image stamp, designed specifically to be used with the Misti.

I've got a short video of my own that shows how I stamped the mirror image of the Rose Bloom.

Once I stamped my images, I did some watercoloring with several of the So Suzy Ink Bites, including Mellow Mint and Caribbean Coral from the Coastal Breeze Ink Bite collection, and Happy Hunter and Simply Sinful from the Autumn Equinox Ink Bites collection.  Just press your ink pad onto a craft mat and grab the colors with a water brush.  I like to use up my scraps of sticker paper that is leftover from my Xyron machine.  So easy and clean is a breeze by tossing in the trash.  A great alternative if you don't have a craft mat.

I used a white gel pen to soften the edges and add some highlights.

When dried, I decided to amp up the color by adding the Mango Marmalade Ink bite colors from the Autumn Equinox collection and some tiny black dots with a Marvy extra fine black pen.  The cardstock that I'm using is from DCWV and I've also added some polka dot ribbon from American Crafts.

Isn't that sentiment font fabulous?  I love it and this is a must have sentiment to add to your collection.  Below are some affiliate shopping links.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
