Happy Mail Envelopes for Two Paper Divas

My design team project for Two Paper Divas this week, involved one of those "aha" moments.  The new stamp set "Sunshine and Smiles" was just released this month, and looking at that sentiment, I thought it sure would be perfect for happy mail envelopes.  Decorating envelopes and packages with "happy mail" stamps and decorative images is super hot right now.  Take a peek at my trio below and I'll share a few tips on how these were made.....

I started by stamping the sentiment in two parts, using washi tape to mask the parts of the stamp that I wanted to hide.

I used the same masking technique for the flowers, adding a strip of washi tape along the edge of one side of a stamped flower image, then partially stamping another flower.  Super easy.  Next, I started coloring with Tombow markers.

Here's a close-up, each one is different.  I used a white gel pen to add circles, polka dots and to enhance my colored flowers.

I used the same masking technique for stamping the leaves as well.

This is a great idea to dress up an envelope if you're mailing a letter or card to a pen pal.

Visit the Two Paper Divas Blog and take a look at some of the projects featured today, then check back each day for more project inspiration by the design team.

DoubleClick Skittles Challenge Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of the newest challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #30 - Use a Flower, Tree or Plant

Jan 6 - Jan 19

I was perusing through my assortment of papers and spied a couple sheets from the Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime collection".   They're so pretty and I knew they would pair nicely with my DoubleClick Skittles for the Flower challenge.  Today, I'm featuring the Pebbles Skittles.

I love the Pebble Skittles because they have a very light tinge of gray....like a pebble!  Because they're clean and a neutral color they go with just about everything.  I used them on these fussy cut flowers that are propped up on foam squares.

I added lots of glitter to my project too, so that everything would sparkle and shine, right along with my Skittles.  Aren't these fairy wings pretty?

Here's another view of my Skittles/Floral focus.

New Release at Two Paper Divas - Home Family Blessings

Have you enjoyed the January release stamp set previews this week from Two Paper Divas?  I'm back today, featuring the new, Home Family Blessing stamp.  I was so happy for the opportunity to showcase  this beautiful sentiment.  Creating a scene around a lovely sentiment is one of my favorite cardmaking techniques.

I started by embossing my sentiment with black ink and clear embossing powder, then sponging distress ink around the edges.

The designer papers I'm using are from the Home Sweet Home collection from Carta Bella and are the perfect accent for this sentiment.   I fashioned this beautiful bow from May Arts Ribbon to accent my card then added a few more little touches.  You can find the full supply list at the end of this post.

Visit the Two Paper Divas Blog and take a look at some of the projects featured this week, then check back each day for more project inspiration by the design team.

New Challenge at DoubleClick Skittles - Flower, Tree or Plant

Welcome to the newest challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #30 - Use a Flower, Tree or Plant

Jan 6 - Jan 19, 2016

Since the end of year holidays have come and gone, I find myself needing lots of Thank You cards.  I decided to break in a new stamp set that was perfect for my "Flower" themed thank you's.

For this trio of cards, I'm featuring the black Skittles from the Believe in Magic Disney themed collection.  Each card is just a little bit different.

I started by watercoloring this flower stamp, adding some polka dots with a white gel pen and placing my Skittles in the center.  I tried several colors before I settled on the black.  It just totally "popped" and brought out the black in my cardstock as well.

These cards make me so happy!  I really love how they turned out and the Skittles absolutely shine as the focal point.

New release at Two Paper Divas

Today marks a new endeavor and a new release.... this is my first project that I'm sharing as a Design Team member for Two Paper Divas.  It's also part of the January release which is super exciting, with seven new stamp sets being released.

My project today features the Sunshine and Smiles stamp set.

I started by stamping multiples of the various flowers onto patterned paper, fussy cutting each one, and using my handy dandy little paintbrush to "roll" the flower edges.

I also stamped the shadow flowers to fade into the background.  Some of the flowers are popped up on foam squares, some are adhered directly to my paper.  All of my flowers are embellished in the center with Flower Soft and/or bubble embellishments.

Lastly, I stamped my sentiment onto faux stitched cardstock and added a pretty twine bow.

Visit the Two Paper Divas Blog and take a look at some of the projects featured today, then check back each day for more project inspiration by the design team.

Product Review for Heartfelt Creations Coffee Talk (Part 2)

Welcome back to the second half of my product review for the Heartfelt Creations Coffee Talk collection.  Last week, I shared my review of the Coffee Talk paper collection and if you missed it, you can see my scrapbook layout and review, here.   Today, I'm going to share my insights into their new Coffee Mug Cling Stamp Set.

I've learned a lot of techniques over the years and you can learn many of these techniques at the Hearfelt Creations website by scrolling through their blog or tutorial links found on their home page.  Today, I'm going to watercolor this stamped image and create a mug shaped card;
without a die.

Before we get started, I wanted to show you the size of the stamp.  It's massive.  Seriously.  You're going to need a 4"x 6" acrylic block for use with this cling stamp.  It spans nearly the entire length of my hand, at 5" x 4".

I wanted to make a mug shaped card, however, I didn't have the die.  That's where a little creativity and ingenuity comes into play.  I pulled out a pencil and started tracing the outside image of the cling stamp with the stamp placed faced down.  Next, I carefully flipped my stamp over, traced the outside edge of the stamp with the image face up.  Those arrows indicate where I plan on scoring my paper, which by the way, is watercolor paper (Bristol Strathmore 300 series).

Here, you can see the final outline.  It's not a perfect science and I did use my fine tipped scissors to completely clean up any uneven edges.  Do I recommend that you purchase the accompanying die?  Yes! It would certainly increase productivity, particularly if you want to make multiples of a mug shaped card.  You can find the die, here.  Take a peek at some of the other Coffee Talk cling stamps that are available, here.  As my budget allows, I certainly plan on adding to my collection.

Your best bet, would be to purchase the Coffee Talk Creative Essentials Collection, receiving the paper, mug stamp and dies at a collective discount.

Now, let's wrap this up.   Before, trimming the outline of my mug shaped card, I watercolored my stamped image using Ranger distress inks.  My favorite technique, and it's an easy one, is to stamp your distress ink onto an acrylic block or craft mat, spritz with a water mister, then grab a wet paintbrush and start painting with your diluted ink.  For more intense color, add more ink and less water.

For the inside of this card, I've stamped onto some patterned paper and trimmed it to fit inside my card.  You'll want to leave a little bit of an outer rim to your card and not trim it completely to the edge of your stamped image.

I used a craft knife to trim a little circle, bringing the "inside" of my card, for viewing on the outside, trimming the inner part of the mug handle, as well.  For a little added sparkle, I added some tiny sequins and Mod Podge Dimensional Magic glue to the colored coffee.

Thank you so much for spending this time with me today.  I know you are going to love this new collection from Heartfelt Creations, as much as I do.  I would love to see what you make too, so please share be sure and share your creations at the social media sites listed below.  If you're not already following the various links below for Heartfelt Creations and myself, I encourage you to do so.  You don't want to miss a thing!
