Plaid Sunflower Card with Doodling

Hello friends. My last order from Scrapbook.com included a free Sunflower die/emboss set and yes, I may have placed an order to get the free die, haha! I absolutely love sunflowers. My grandmother in upstate New York used to grow them on her farm. I also stumbled on a beautiful sunflower farm awhile back, here in Alabama, and got inspired all over again. They're one of God's beautiful creations!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I started by ink blending my A2 card panel with a variety of Ranger distress oxide inks along with my Simon Hurley Rectangle stencil. I actually masked a portion of the space with my mint tape so it was more of a squared area for ink blending.

The sunflower die set includes 4 pieces and I used 3 of the dies, using papers from the Scrapbookcom Cozy paper pad, and the yellow paper from the Playful paper pad.

I recently made a card that featured a sentiment from the Scrapbookcom Gratitude stamp set, and I wanted to use another sentiment from that set. I used my Scrapbookcom hybrid ink in black and Autumn Leaves to stamp with my Misti stamp positioner.

I did something unexpected on this card; a little doodling for my flower stem. Don't ask me why, but I think it's a fun little surprise and adds a little bit of whimsy. What can I say, my brain has a mind of it's own, haha. I just drew a line with a green marker then outlined it with my Ranger fineliner Letter It black pen, and edged both sides of my stem with tiny little "prickly" lines. I also dotted my stem with a white gel pen.

The polka dot paper under my card panel was from the Cozy paper pad and is also the same paper I used for the small die cut center of my flower. I embellished my center with a white gel pen and Pops of Color in Creamsicle. I trimmed my card panel and patterned paper backing just a bit, to fit my A2 sized card.

If you'd like more details on any of the products that I used, or would like to shop, I have clickable affiliate links below, as an affiliate for Scrapbook.com. Thanks so much for stopping by and happy Fall cardmaking!

Terri

Coffee.... The Most Important Meal of The Day + Blog Candy

The Sketch/Coffee/Tea/Cocoa Challenge is in full swing at Two Paper Divas Stamps as is the Summer Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop.  You still have time to enter both but hurry as Friday, July 24th  is the last day to enter!  TPD Stamps is also a super sponsor of the Summer Coffee Lovers Hop so there's lots of prizes going around.  Be sure to visit their blog each day and comment for additional prizes.

My project today features the "Coffee on the Go" stamp set as well as the "Keep Calm and Drink" stamp set from Two Paper Divas.  I've paired more elements from the PebblesInc Americana collection, including the papers and glittery red clip.

I used my Zig Oatmeal clean color brush to color the lid of my cup and scattered various sequins.  I also added a sunshine "glow" under my cup by dipping a paper towel into my American Crafts Sunflower ink pad and rubbing in a circle onto my cardstock.  So easy!

You can enter the TPD Stamps Sketch challenge here:

Enter the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop here: (tea and cocoa lovers are also welcome!)

New Challenge at DoubleClick Skittles - Flower, Tree or Plant

Welcome to the newest challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #30 - Use a Flower, Tree or Plant

Jan 6 - Jan 19, 2016

Since the end of year holidays have come and gone, I find myself needing lots of Thank You cards.  I decided to break in a new stamp set that was perfect for my "Flower" themed thank you's.

For this trio of cards, I'm featuring the black Skittles from the Believe in Magic Disney themed collection.  Each card is just a little bit different.

I started by watercoloring this flower stamp, adding some polka dots with a white gel pen and placing my Skittles in the center.  I tried several colors before I settled on the black.  It just totally "popped" and brought out the black in my cardstock as well.

These cards make me so happy!  I really love how they turned out and the Skittles absolutely shine as the focal point.

Have you purchased the new end of year 2015 release yet?

Frosty Kisses 2015

Holiday Traditions 2015

You can shop below for these and other Skittles colors.   A 3 pk is typically under $4.00 (75 skittles) and this includes FREE USA SHIPPING, plus, Paypal is accepted.  You're supporting small business and products made in the USA, when you purchase Skittles.  Each batch is handmade, by Carri.  And, the new release has sparkle built in!

Join the "Flower, Tree or Plant" challenge and be entered for a fun prize that includes free Skittles, but be sure and read the rules, as backlinking is not allowed.  Skittles are not required to play so come on... link up and come and play with us!

SITS Summer Photo Challenge

I love taking pictures of nature.  I also love crafting.  So, I'm often on the road to attend a craft event, which is how I find myself on country roads at times, pulling over and snapping some beautiful photos.  As a craft blogger, lighting is so important and I love testing out lighting on nature photos as well.  As luck would have it, it was slightly overcast on this day, which makes for really great photos.

I'm entering this into the SITS Day 1 Summer Photo Challenge, "Rules of Composition".  One object should be slightly off center, with the other object centered.  I also tinkered with the exposure on the second photo to lighten the background.
